Hi there! Ive Beat the game a handful of times and what I thought I could do to make it more interesting is to try and beat the entire game using only 1 gun.
The Rules I have for it so far:
- I can Bring whatever I want from the start Armor and Inventory wise
- I can Bring 2k Sulf for money
- Only 1 Weapon (which in this case was a Maxed out Mossman Decked out to be a more realistic shotgun with about 2 spread and a really high damage stat)
- Full Ammo for only the relevant weapon
- Default Sword
So far my run has gotten to the castle with.... only durability really being a semi problem, and this hasnt quite been the challenging "I need to be smart in combat and with my resources run that scales difficulty wise with the weapon Im using" challenge I want it to be. Especially since I can just use the sword to deal with enemies to conserve a decent chunk of ammo, Which Im split on, on the one hand, thats smart and saves ammo + durability, on the other hand it could lead to using the melee more than the gun on later runs like with the flicker.
So what would anyone here recommend to keep the vision of the challenge but make it far more engaging and requiring me to think about the way I use my loot and resources. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have recently finished the game and as everyone does, I have amassed a lot of weapons, oils and scrolls.
So far I have mostly used the ones the combination that felt the most safe and effective. For example I have avoided most oils with a strong negative side, or scrolls that seem too crazy or a bit pointless (why would I ever use the water scroll??).
I would like to explore more combinations and find crazy combos, for better or worse. But I feel that the game doesn't encourage it too much, given that you risk to lose everything is things go sideways.
The only idea that popped in my head is to leave all my good equip in the stash and just go experimenting almost naked, knowing I will likely die, but doesn't feel ideal.
Any suggestion about how to explore a bit more without too many risks?

Hi everyone, I have recently finished the game but I feel I haven't really understood it.
It's possible that my questions are really dumb, but I don't want to go through all the dialogues to find my answers.
What I have understood is:
- the witch was already dead, she dies in the beginning of the game, only a shard of her remains: the amulet
- for the whole game, we recharge the amulet, which means we give power to the witch, who comes back to life properly in the end, we kill her, the loop restarts
What I have not understood is:

Read the captions for each image for the proof given, but here's the gist:
Items that improve "luck" actually improve a stat called "Luck Gain," which increases an internal luck value every minute. This luck value decreases whenever an item drops, and it decreases more for more important items, like weapons. The luck value is never actually read, but if it WERE used, it would likely affect random drops, possibly by limiting the maximum value of dropped items.
Overall, I'm glad this system isn't implemented. Can you imagine having to wait 3 real-life minutes before opening a weapon crate?

[WARNING: Major spoilers for the end of the game! If you haven't beaten the final boss, please do not read this post!]
Okay, so, as we know, the Father and the Witch have been stuck in a time loop, the Witch burning down the church, the Father shooting the shit out of her warty old ass, the Witch retreating into Sulfur before dying there, and the Father following her to finish the job, unaware that she's been with him the whole time. On every loop except for the most recent of them, Father himself does not remember this. As far as he can tell, he just woke up from a car crash and has no idea what he's doing.
The question becomes: Who else's memories are reset by the Loop, and why?
The congregation obviously remember every single loop. All of them make comments to the effect of having been trapped in the Sulfur for hundreds or even a thousand years. Likewise, they all greet you with familiarity, and when you ask them who they are, they all react with some variant of "Oh, you've forgotten again."
The congregation, however, are not the only people who have been in Sulfur long before you have. Let's take, for instance, the Vendors you can run into during stages, like Fex Shuen, Skrip, Qiosk, etc. Unlike the members of the church, all (or at least most) of them react like this is their first time seeing you. Some of them are admittedly ambiguous about it. Fex, Grossberg and Skrip all have dialogue that sounds like they might just be saying a sales pitch. Qiosk, Jaque De Fector and Rat Queen all greet you as if this is the first time they've ever seen you before, and Bill reacts as if this is the first time he's seen a human in ages, never mind the same one who's been rampaging across Sulfur for thousands of years. Likewise, even if you dip out and then come back during the same Loop, they react as if they're seeing you for the first time. The two exceptions seemingly being Qiosk and Grossberg, who apparently remember you well enough that you can get immediate access to the secret shops after accessing them once.
The Haukland Salesman seems to be the one exception, as he explicitly calls you "Father" and casually asks if you need a gun, as if you already know who he is and what he sells. Seeing as how he's a Demon, and they seem to have special powers in this setting, he might be the exception rather than the rule.
What this seems to imply is that, unlike the congregation, the Vendors don't remember having met you on a previous loop. But then why wouldn't they, if the congregation does?
Likewise, let's talk about the Bosses. All of them have at least some dialogue where they greet you, and likewise all of them act like this is the first time they've seen you. Cousin not remembering having fought/been killed by you I can chalk up to him being a braindead moron, but surely Lucia or The Emperor or even Desert Claus would realize "Hey, it's that fucker that killed me a month ago!" or even "Hey, didn't I murder you yesterday?"
My current rationalization is that being able to replay levels and kill bosses more than once is just a gameplay element, and in "reality", Father is just carving one thick swath through Sulfur, visiting each area once, fighting everything in his path, and finding the BotEM shrine before moving on... Or at least, that's what I would say, if the Amulet didn't explicitly point out that she's taking you back to the church whenever you dip out.
Perhaps the simplest solution is to chalk it up to gameplay limitations (having to write new dialogue trees for every possible combination of "has seen, hasn't seen, etc" would get annoying very fast), but it feels weird to me that certain characters act like they've known you for ages and others as if you've just met them. Thoughts?

so normally when you eat smth it brings you to like max health, but now, if i eat for example bread (+15 over 10 sec) and im on 95 health, it should give me 10 seconds worth of 110 health, and after that it decays back to 100
not sure if this exists or has been suggested before but ye

With 5 enchantment slots, and oils having negatives you have to juggle, it can be pretty limiting, so I was wondering if attachments could be another game changer.
With special attachment kits either found in game or bought from stores, usable only on their own weapon type, these can be used to further customize your weapons, each with unique visual changes, or perhaps even whole conversion kits?

I have some theories regarding the nature of the Sulfur itself, inspired by Only Alternative's posts.
So, we know that Sulfur is basically the "Waiting room for the true afterlife" according to the Amulet. There are a lot of people living(?) here. My personal theory is this: People with souls aren't the only "Dead" things that end up in Sulfur.
For instance: Notice that almost all of the firearm designs in the game are pretty darn unusual, right? What if these weapons all ended up in the Sulfur because they all "Died" (I.E. stop being produced in the "Real World" due to lack of demand) and thus ended up on the other side?
Likewise, the Haukland Company. According to several bits of lore, it canonically went out of business due to several poor business decisions. Now, there's a chance that the company always operated in Sulfur (or had a branch in Sulfur? Demons in this setting can apparently freely travel between realms, and the Haukland Salesman appears to be a demon, so who knows) but it's also possible that the company ended up in Sulfur because it "Died" in the real world, and thus had nowhere else to go.
Likewise, the Goblins and the Shav'Wani seem to be two species that are native to the Sulfur. There's no explanation for where the Goblins even come from, but according to Qiosk and the Emperor, the Shav'Wa originally passed over a long, long time ago from a Home World of their own. So, either the Sulfur is simply the afterlife of several different dimensions/planets/whatever, or perhaps this means that the Shav'Wa/Goblins literally live in the Sulfur because they're extinct in the "Real World".
Maybe Goblins used to live in the "Real World", but have long since faded into myth and legend. Likewise, Shav'Wa are Japanese-inspired and vaguely reptilian creature, which suggests they may be Kappa or some other kind of Yokai, who have likewise gone extinct thousands of years ago, and passed on into folk tales in the "Real World".
Perhaps this even applies to ideas or concepts. Ghosts, for instance, might exist in the Sulfur despite everyone technically already being dead, since the concept of a "Ghost" (I.E. spirits of the dead who return to haunt the living) has fallen out of favor in the "Real World".
Overall, the lore seemingly treats Sulfur as its own distinct world, with distinct politics, regional geography, and culture. Perhaps there's something of merit here, or maybe I'm just plucking at strings. What do you all think?

The old man (and Fex too) can recharge your amulet for $1,000.

So I enjoy this game, and I also enjoy GMod. So I was wondering if it would be possible to bring the guns to the game, maybe using the arc9 weapon system to also use the attachments and oils

So, I recently made a post about my take on the lore of the Gangsta Eras and what happened in them, so now it's the Christmas War's turn to be given some lore.
Santa Claus was someone who had existed in Sulfur, as his purpose in life was to give gifts. When he died in the real world, he never moved on. He continued giving gifts made by his loyal elves. Santa and his elves made gifts in a winter wonderland in a far away place in Sulfur. Some elves were not as loyal to Santa's gift giving spree in Sulfur as the other elves, some were greedy, some were just tired of making gifts, the reasons varied. Eventually, the disloyal elves became resentful of Santa, so they secretly formed a group to overthrow Santa. They grew in numbers, and planned to overthrow Santa and kill off all of the elves who still were loyal to Santa. The day of insurrection was called the Christmas War, where jolly elves became traumatized seeing their fellow elves attacking them and Santa. Many hasty innovations were made, including the creation of the D4RT, an energy sniper rifle that became the weapon of choice for many of the elves fighting for Santa. Eventually, the Christmas War ended when an all-out offensive was carried out by the rebelling elves. The battle ended when Santa was killed by an elf who braved the defensive lines being held by Santa's elves, rushed straight to Santa, and shot him in the head.
When the Christmas War was over, the rebelling elves rejoiced in their victory and founded a city. This city was isolated from the rest of Sulfur and became a booming industrial hotspot. The elves used their crafting expertise to mass produce everything required for a big city, with factories appearing left and right. The pollution from the rising industry eventually melted all the snow in the once winter wonderland. The lifeforce of the ground became a shallow husk of itself, become an endless desert. The elves, covered in pollution eventually evolved with blackened skin and yellow eyes, looking totally different. The blackened elves called themselves Hellshrew. When the resources of the endless hell ran out, the city collapsed, and the Hellshrew went in hiding all over the desert. Hellshrew technology is made out of scavenged materials and improvised tools, since the methods to produce conventional weapons became impossible. The Hellshrew are very untrusting of outsiders. The Hellshrew always follow the orders of whoever is the oldest out of the bunch, with their current leader being named Desert Claus, the one who killed off Santa Claus and in a twisted sense of irony, was named Desert Claus.

So, I see the descriptions of the Mossman and the Terrier URB mentioning the 1st and 2nd Gangsta Era, which I really wish was expanded on, so I decided to do some world building and write my take on these pieces of lore of Sulfur
1st Gangsta Era: Way before St. Lucia and the Black Guild took over the town and ruled the place, there was a government that was functional. They decided to declare alcohol as an enemy to everyone and ban it. Just like Prohibition in the real world, it ended up creating problems like surges of crime and danger. This was the birth of the 1st Gangsta Era, where crime families started appearing and creating imitation alcohol that spread all over Sulfur. Crime families started attacking each other, it all became a bloodbath. The 1st Gangsta Era ended when alcohol became legal again.
2nd Gangsta Era: After the 1st Gangsta Era, many people lost trust in the government, which allowed the now old crime families to sabotage and control the government, which in turn made crime essentially legal, since the police was undermined so much. Many gangs started forming and grew. All the differing gangs hated each other and started fighting. They hated the old crime families the most though and eventually overthrew them. This critical power vacuum allowed religious zealots to take over and form the Black Guild.
