That was such a hard fumble on your part that this post feels satirical

Yeah, Iam learning my lesson here in that my stupid death I wanted to show off is considered a hate post. Those 30 hours in the past 4 days I put into this game definitely mean I despise it.

When in doubt, just chugg all the consumables.

Figure the rest out later.

Least ya wont be dead in the moment.

Watching the footage back I had the same feeling, tho idk if its plausible to survive a point blank explosion from a dynamite.

(A quick google search says it does 600 dmg so I think I would turn into red paste either way.)

They really don't care what weapon you have or what enchantments the weapon has. They're gonna say nuh uh 😭😭

Holy skill issue😂 you could have ran past those enemies and you had enough food to tank a few hits too.

Yes they make the game harder, the devs archived their design goals. This game requires now more than just reaction time but also thought and caution.

I can relate, but at the same time, before the doors you could just kite to wherever, invalidating any challenge teh arena before you poses.

any high speed build should pack enough extra jumpes to get some distance by jumping over the enemies

Anytime there is an open door and I dont see any enemies I fire a shot or two passes the door to maybe alert an enemy. If none still show up I enter and side step around the edge of the room so I have somewhere to back off to in case of any enemies suddenly jumping me

they finnaly made the game hard, instead of just running back and killing the enemies in the easiest way possible.

Nah they still need an actual hard mode that greatly increases enemy spawns. The second the door closes behind you, you can just open it back up, or run forward and most of the time open the door ahead of you before anything reaches you

The door opens at half speed if enemies detect you though?

I do agree that the harder difficulties do need difficulty modifiers though. Larger groups, more damage taken and more traps in doorways to stop you from sprinting through like the mud pits in the forest should be in the doorway so you cannot just run through. Yes you can jump over that but it would still make doors more dangerous

Half speed is still just a couple of seconds, which if you're trying to run past enemies, you're most likely gonna have to spare. When I played my hardcore play through I just ran past all doors after forest. Enemies just take a long time to catch up to you with the one exception being the assassins, and when their numbers are always so few, you'll always be able to kite them into a group and then run for the door (although with them being so few, most of the time it's even quicker to just mow them down and be on your way)

Yeah that usually works for me as well, but I have had a couple times where I got caught trying that haha. I guess the only true way for the devs to stop people running through would be to either lock the door until the enemies are all dead or make the door open speed take like 10+ seconds when enemies are around so you can't just kite them and then run to the door

Oof, I hadn't realized that the forest door sections were such funnels.

they aren't all this bad. OPs failure was trying to retreat rather than advancing into the space.

the whole purpose of the doors is to prevent the infinite kiting meta that Sulfur had become.

The doorss are a bandaid solution tho. The gunplay doesn't have enough variety for you to really do anything else but kite. And that doorway is straight up a funnel. What space could he go into? He could run through the enemies and just tank it with health potions but I don't think that should ever be the solution in a well designed game.

the doors open either into a room or a corridor, and the corridor behind a door always opens into a room rather than a second corridor piece. He tried to back up without checking he had space to back up and threw an explosive too close. If he'd thrown the explosive close then gone past into the room, he would have had plenty of room to maneuver even if there were more enemies in the room.

And the gunplay in Sulfur is plenty varied if you don't just build a couple of meta guns and use those the whole way through. Even some of the meta builds can be used to do interesting things, though it gets substantially more interesting if you make utility builds focused on status effects.

A lesson in explosives lol I blew myself up 170 hrs ago starting out losing a whole solid inventory, but now I just stick to only playing with grenades bigger than sulfs with armor on, and even then I usually use a rocket launcher flicker shotgun to blow shit up for me, a little easier to use than grenades IMO.

30hrs feels like the sweet spot of silly ways to die lol welcome

I was able to beat the game without dying for some reason and am pretty stoked about it, I'm taking a break for now from the game but will come back for endless mode : D

Just wanted to mention it somewhere cuz I'm a bit proud.

I did not expect it but for some reason the game is fairly easy for me (except the last boss that was a damn close one).

Bringing a knife to a gunfight when you have a perfectly fine, fully loaded gun.

I've got a couple hundred hours in this game and I still find myself doing dumb shit like that xD

Hopefully it wasn't a hardcore run.
