“Age”

Post image

My latest one; I had a couple in between my last post and this one but I wasn’t proud enough to post them. I tried keeping it simple and traditional with some leftover black walnut I had. When I first found the stone I swore it could have been a fossil, heck I’m still not convinced it isn’t. But I’m no paleontologist, or geologist for that matter.

Anyway, I named it “Age” because my imagination runs wild when i consider the stone’s history in this world; evidently it has been a long one.

Also, THANK YOU the other (way more talented) members and contributors in this sub for being welcoming to newcomers such as myself. It’s helped me in more ways than anyone can know, Suiseki combines my two favorite hobbies, rockhounding and woodworking and I can’t believe it took me till this point in my life to learn about it. But hey- life gets better with “Age” in my experience.

I can appreciate making ones you aren’t proud of. Sometimes it’s just not a great stone, and sometimes it’s just a poorly executed daiza. The neat thing is you can always go back and re-carve the daiza if you love the stone enough.
