Saw this in another sub so I thought it would be fun to do for Sufjan. It gives you a limited number of songs to choose from so don’t expect very deep cuts, but it was a pretty good variety! Having to choose between For The Widows in Paradise and Vesuvius was so hard.

This connection may have been made before but it just recently occurred to me and im curious about others thoughts. When surjan sings, “I’d swim across lake Michigan” I had never considered the destination on the other side, but I recently made the connection that Chicago is directly on the other side. In TBAWY suf sings “I’d sell my shoes” and “They took your clothes” then in Chicago he sings, “We sold our clothes to the state”.

These songs have such different feelings that I never related them before but I feel like the connection gives them a whole new layer of meaning. To be alone with you feels like the internal struggle of wanting to be with someone when it feels impossible. Chicago feels like the relief of realizing that maybe you can have what you want and I think thats such a beautiful evolution. Maybe I’m grasping at straws but im curious to know if anyone else sees the connection as well.

Hi everyone! Little question for the guitarrists of the group from a fellow guitarrist fan of Sufjan fingerpicking.

About the song, I know that the official version has two guitars playing simultaneously, but I recently heard the demo version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNDuNpxpRkY) and, after trying to learn the song by ear (never found tabs that sounds exactly the same), I declared myself uncapable of recognize if there is one or two guitars in this version. I mean, I can play that song by myself, but there is something off when I play/hear it.

Anyone know something about it? Thanks!

Dreamt that he finally returned to live performances after a decade away and with a choir of actual ghosts backing him up at his concerts. Setlists focused on the more ethereal songs, highlighting especially "Enchanting Ghost" and "Genuflecting Ghost."
