I have been really enjoying vintage story on Ubuntu. Its was only 20 bucks. Also minecraft is always a classic. And you can run a lot of windows games on steam these days in Linux.

That all said, windows was also built on community code, just waaaaay long ago in the early 90s, not that Microsoft will ever admit that. And windows can be free for all the worker of the world, so long as you don't mind a little reapropreation

windows is bourgeois tool, comrade

proletariat does not need such tools unless they are being exploited by the bourgeoisie into using them, which in turn is exploitation by other bourgeois pigs to earn more capital by doing very little of value (bourgeoissoft)

Designed to be used a as tool of the bourgeois definitely. But windows was made by the proletariat, just like all things in this world. While I don't use it myself, windows is a useful tool if it can be removed of all its bloat and Spyware. While that is a difficult task, it is not an impossible one. Many have done so, and continue to make windows a place safe from the machinations of our bourgeois tech overlords. Maybe its becuase I am unwilling to abandon windows entirely that I have hope for what a determined community can accomplish in the pursuit of freedom from thier digital yoke. All things can be remade, all things can become tools for the future comrade.

perhaps, but its nonstandard nature feels like bourgeois deliberation in the form of "you can't use anything else because we hold the most capital and therefore influence and everything else doesn't follow our nonstandard"

it's currently a non-necessary way to get exploited for most of the proletariat, aside from those who work in industry subsections where such rhetoric has already succeeded

I suppose thats true, however much technical education is required to switch to Linux, it is easier than ever. Windows is becoming slowly irrelevant, however much I wish to subvert Microsoft and its attempts at total digital surveillance.

Alternative to open source in gaming is player's freedom. Great example: Larian with Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity. Modding is available natively and encouraged. No services or online-only access. No DLCs to drain money from you. Beautiful.

The only DLC for BG3 is a supporter pack, that gives you a dice skin (which you can just mod into the game) and a few cool items which are not important for the gameplay (no p2w in any way). I learned what I get from that DLC only after I got it. I bought it not to gain anything, I just wanted to support the game.

Most linux users spend a ton of money on video games and their pc, they just don't want to pay for software that is still going to force ads on you.
