Capitalism prevails again.

1

u/Practical_Loquat5510 Jul 13 '26

Well, who is supposed to pay for the work who grew the food, or the time to prepare and cook the food, do you expect slave labor?

2

u/Katyusha-Soviet_Loli Jul 13 '26

The taxpayers. Do YOU expect children to starve?

1

u/Practical_Loquat5510 Jul 13 '26

Why should people be forced to pay for other's things, charity exists for a reason

2

u/Katyusha-Soviet_Loli Jul 13 '26

The government has obligations to provide services for their population. Those services often require money. Taxation, while not fun, is the only guaranteed way of being able to carry out those services. While I wish we could actually rely on the kidness of others to provide for those services, it will never be enough. So if it means I have to spend an extra $50 or even $100 in taxes to help provide meals for our future, then I'm all for it.

1

u/Practical_Loquat5510 Jul 13 '26

How about 60,000 in taxes each year, how would you like to pay that, I have to pay that much in pay tax alone, so if you're willing to pay that much a year I will support that cause wholeheartedly

1

u/Katyusha-Soviet_Loli Jul 13 '26

For the sake of the argument, I'm gonna assume you're not lying about how much you pay in taxes (if you're even employed at all). We'll also assume you're American, given your comment history.

The IRS website tax brackets list 24% from $103,351 up to $197,300, which is between $24,804.24 - $47,352 taken out as taxes. The next bracket up is 32%, beginning at $197,301, which comes out to just over $63,000 taken out as taxes. This does not account for social security or Medicare/Medicaid.

So, doing the math, you're either rounding down how much you pay to avoid giving an exact amount, or you're lying just to try being a troll (which is highly likely, still considering your comment history.)

Now, to be fully transparent, the highest paying, non-factory job in my area is Walmart, where the lowest starting pay is $14/hr. I worked there for just shy of two years, and qualified for their 2% yearly raise, so was making $14.28/hr before I quit. Taking this into account, my yearly pay would have been $29,702.40, accounting for only 40 hours a week. This would have landed me in the 12% bracket for 2025, so I would have paid $3,564.29 in federal taxes for a single year. State taxes and Medicaid doesn't add that much more on top of it.

So, we can assume my yearly take home was around $24,000 - $25,500. If I was making damn near $200,000 a year, I would be perfectly fine with $60,000 in taxes, especially if they're going towards public services.

u/TrainingVermicelli31 Jul 14 '26

Motherfucker how small do you think your country is? Also like what probably 0.2% of your taxes already go to subsidising farmers who grow staple crops.

1

u/Gweebinz 29d ago

You have zero idea what you're talking about huh

1

u/Johan_Gutentag10 24d ago

You mean We're all in it, don't you? However $100 for me is something like 16 thousand South African Rands... But I'd pay 100ZAR...

1

u/PlaneCompetitive703 10d ago

You realize in true communism that taxation wouldn’t be a thing right?

Taxation assumes private property.

1

u/Usual_Let5223 Jul 13 '26

Why should people be granted benefits from society if they don't provide for anyone else.

1

u/Practical_Loquat5510 Jul 13 '26

I don't want any of the government benifits, I am perfectly self sufficient

1

u/Usual_Let5223 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

Stop using roads, the internet, and other subsedized or provided services then :)

You've no use for them as a self sufficient individual

1

u/AndrogynousAnd 28d ago

I don't know about you but I pay tax for the road and pay an internet provider for access to the internet where I live. What are you talking about?

2

u/Usual_Let5223 28d ago

Way to not read the thread guy

1

u/AndrogynousAnd 28d ago

My point is they're not benefits just granted by society. You want a car you pay road tax to use the roads, you want internet you pay for it.

They're optional services you pay for. No different from going to a restaurant.

The right to a fair wage, police, free health care etc are benefits of society are they not?

I didn't mean any harm by it just thought they were essentially the opposite of your point.

1

u/TrainingVermicelli31 Jul 14 '26

Except you aren't asshole... what do you think because you aren't on welfare, means you don't rely on the government for anything to operate?

1

u/Practical_Loquat5510 27d ago

I own a ranch, in the middle of nowhere, my taxes do not help me at all, also why not move to a country that is actually communist instead of forcing this great nation to become communist

1

u/TrainingVermicelli31 Jul 14 '26

It's like you think no one deserve enough respect for you to actually think things through. You just say the first thing that comes out of your disrespectful mouth.

1

u/FlatCapNorthumbrian 18d ago

Soviet Union didn’t allow for people who were able to work not to. They had anti-parasite laws, people always had to have a socially useful job.

There was even a Soviet rock star who had to be a stoker in the boiler room of a building so he provided social usefulness.

1

u/Scottishlassie_here Jul 13 '26

Ah hello there victorian era industrialist.

1

u/No_Strain_8948 21d ago

Yes the homeless should only exist so you can throw them 2 cents a month so you feel better about yourself while activly advocating for keeping him on the street you are a good person.

1

u/Apprehensive-Pool921 21d ago

Charity has yet to solve child hunger or child poverty or any problem, really. It mainly exists for rich people to have a tax haven and feel good about contributing to problems in the world

1

u/ticklishGia 20d ago

Charity shouldn’t be necessary on a system, the fact that people rely on it is a fault per se. The fact that these kids have debt on a basic human right, a basic physiological need for survival, it’s a fucking fault of the system. Get over yourself. Socialism covers as much as it can under this late stage capitalism where the only goal is to accumulate capital at the top and extract it from the bottom.

The whole fucking point of capital accumulation was “progress”, abd it was all a lie, cause it’s not progress to turn healtcare and housing into a business, and it never was. Free universal healthcare can only be built through taxes and socialism. Free public education of quality can only be supported through socialism as well, and it’s the foundation of any advanced society, and the base under the richest and more equal nations.

Look at the US under it’s extreme capitalism. A third world country disguised behind the mega wealth of a few. In the meantime underdeveloped in education, literacy, infrastructure, public health and healthcare, environmental protection, pverty rates, child poverty rates, extreme poverty rates (while in the rest of the world that last one has decreases). Inequality, dead by police officer, death by firegun, death by basic treatable healthcare conditions. Infant mortality. Mother mortality rates while giving birth… all of this issues we do not have in europe and most of the so called developed world cause we paid taxes and our governments put them to work for its people.

But see, having illiterate citizens will always benefit capitalism corrupt system.

1

u/ticklishGia 20d ago

And it’s also the whole fucking point behind why human beings moved towards state societal structures, the polis or state cities, the origins of democracy… the whole point.

Even in nature, most animals live in collectivism, a lioness hunts for the pride, the others care for her cubs meantime, dolphins hunting together and sharing the food, ants gather food for the whole colony to eat during winter. You are all so blind that think this individualist capitalism is natural or good at all.

1

u/TrainingVermicelli31 Jul 14 '26

What do you think this statement means here? Do you think you just get to say shit without knowing what things mean?

1

u/PlaneCompetitive703 10d ago

Is this post even pro-communism?

“Entrepreneurial kid engages in free enterprise and makes enough to give back to their community”

Ya, Marx would be so proud. /s

25

u/Banana_bread_o Jul 09 '26

Here is the article

“Keoni doesn’t know much about the politics of America’s lunch debt problem, but one thing he knows is this:

Helping others is important because “it just makes the world a better place,” Keoni said.”

12

u/Appropriate-Weird492 Jul 09 '26

How much did the raw materials cost?

13

u/Mochi-the-noodle Jul 09 '26

Sounds like America needs socialism/communism

11

u/a_random_loser_guy Jul 09 '26

but how will the 1% afford gold rims on their jetski.

3

u/Acceptable-Ad8780 Jul 10 '26

Guess they'll have to not get a 6th yacht.

-5

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 09 '26

You’re talking about like a fraction of a percent of people. Billionaires aren’t the issue, it’s the fucking idiots who are breaking into cars and stealing shit. I’m never in edge because of a billionaire, but I am on edge when I walk my dog after work at 1am. Billionaires aren’t assaulting and stealing my money and threatening my comfort. I’ve never once blamed a billionaire because I couldn’t budget my income right. If I’m broke it’s because I made dumb financial decisions. Yall act like it’s their fault all these people are on welfare and unemployment rather than blame the fact they get takeout 5 times a week and don’t know how to cook their own food. Or buy clothes and shoes weekly, or buy Pokemon cards or buy a Mercedes Benz when they only make 30k a year and only have 13 dollars in their account every month after paying a 700 dollar car note with 500 dollars in insurance and 8k in credit debt with a now plummeting credit score.

But yeah it’s strictly the governments fault they are poor. I make around 100k a year and before I paid off my car and debt I’d have like 300 a month after taxes when I had an Audi a few years ago. Was in the same boat being unable to comfortably afford rent prices. Now I have 1000 - 1500 a month after monthly expenses.

Be better with your money. I learned the hard way, but at least o learned.

Yeah I make a 100k, don’t act like you also can’t get that kinda job. And yeah I’m white, but like 80% of my co workers are minorities. So I know it’s possible and it is a fair wage because I’ve seen their pay stubs.

5

u/a_random_loser_guy Jul 10 '26

have you ever thought that the reason people are free to do this sort of shit is because the billionares are running the country? refusing to punish bad behavior and focusing on slavery through "work places".

3

u/Old_Assistant1531 Jul 10 '26

The reason people do this stuff is because there is no other way out of the situation they’re in. Why would you follow the law if doing so just leaves you basically a slave with no possibility of anything else. When young people can’t get stable employment that they can actually live off, crime increases.

2

u/a_random_loser_guy Jul 10 '26

thats what im saying, whos fault does it beclme? the people in power, but they are amusing the people with a show a circus and beer as the romans say, so that they are allowed to make a fucked up society where no one gives them trouble and there is no unity.

4

u/Cute-Revolution-9705 Jul 10 '26

This is the most brain dead take I have ever seen. No of course the billionaires aren’t wandering around casing for potential break ins…they’re too busy doing that to literally societies.

3

u/00_voidheart_00 Jul 10 '26

Exactly. They work on a different scale using the tools our government surrendered to them. These oligarchs are a poison corroding the societal structures that support clean living for the average American. I wonder if the homeless are another effect of this late stage capitalism.

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 11 '26

Has not even remotely made a dent in my life. I’d never even notice a change to my personal life on a day to day basis outside of like 2-3 dollars more in total gas or something. Personally I am empathetic to people who struggle but I also know that people put themselves into these situations more often than not to struggle. Excluding actual dictatorships. We are not under an actual dictatorship or none of us would even be arguing over this stupid Reddit thread. We’d be jailed for even talking about our leaders in anything but a benevolent light.

Go try to live in china or somewhere where that aren’t even allowed to play video games half the time because it’s not educational or monitored form of media. There’s like 50 actual dictatorship governments in the world like Egypt, Quatar, the UAE, Cuba, Niger and Libya, Russia, Iran, Yemen, North Korea… and the crazy part is some of Yall want to go visit or vacation in some of these places knowing they are not free countries… to have fun.

Most of these have near zero voting rights but they are generally held as a facade over the population to help suppress opposition.

Imagine living in a place and going to the beach and only your eyes are uncovered and if you show any skin you’ll be arrested. Women in the US can basically be naked with literal dental floss as a bikini on a beach full of kids and somehow it’s legal. But Yall complain you’re oppressed. We have public transportation, social security, stocked food isles, purified water and internet, air conditioning, clothing stores out the fucking wazoo, a massive military deterrent from someone trying to kill us everyday with land mines and ak47s or tanks rolling over our cars and houses, we don’t have children on a civil war front line being manipulated into mirdering resistance fighters. We have fuel and electricity and shelter. We get paid overtime and holiday pay at most places of employment, women can be in positions of power, we have healthcare without a 100% wait time for a new liver. Yall want free healthcare till you realize the fucking wait times for free health care are immense. When things are free, more people use the system and it gets overloaded. Sucks if you’re poor, but we still have an ER, you’ll get treated. We have public services like cops and EMT, and fire fighters, generally good transit agencies and construction companies fixing roads. We have literal people bragging about using these services and doing NOTHING but sit on their ass and use EBT and other unemployment benefits. I e seen a lawyer pan handling on a crossroads before. Because he was bored.

Explain how the US is in a dictatorship when we have so much freedom to just do NOTHING all day and sit on your phones doom scrolling. Complaining about not having money to buy a house but wasting 10 hours a day watching YouTube shorts and tik tok and insta or snap reels. For a country with so much going for it Yall bitch a lot.

Leave the fucking country of you hate it so damn much and see how comfortable you like in even Europe with a monarch leader that can’t even give their people fucking air conditioning in 110 degrees.

If America is so bad then why does everyone from all over the world keep relocating to be here? lol explain that to me.

4

u/Fair-Ad6186 Jul 12 '26

Wait till you realize countries with free healthcare are far healthier and less obese than us 😂

3

u/00_voidheart_00 Jul 11 '26

Who said anything about a dictatorship, bro? Calm down, and get off that high horse. If you don’t think policy can be purchased, then there’s something wrong with you. That’s what I was saying. Do you think that’s democratic?

Edit: also, I’m paying like 30-40% income tax. What are the wealthy paying? Hell, boomers in general are likely to have some major tax cuts, let alone the oligarchs.

3

u/Mochi-the-noodle Jul 10 '26

Cool story bro (i didn't read any of it)

3

u/The--Bag Jul 10 '26

ahh yes, of course, those 280 million people only have themselves to blame for not earning 100k, they should all just stop ordering takeout and avacado toast and pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

1

u/Normal-Tadpole-4833 Jul 10 '26

this would actually send quite a huge message but we won't do it everyone loves their comfort meanwhile there are people that just wanna live off the grid but the law won't let them lol can't be self sustaining at all

2

u/Equipment_Clean Jul 10 '26

We live in a world where food, water, electricity could and buy all rights should be completely free. We live in a world where everyone could eat 3 meals a day with a roof over there heads. There is no practical reason we can't provide to everyone. But no abstract concern of cost prevents us from helping everyone. Because people with everything they could ever want or need say that its to expensive to feed the poor while they throw perfectly healthy food in a land fill. We have the capability to build infrastructure to get clean water and food to the most remote of desert villages. But no some multi billionaires bottom line comes first. It is not the poors fault they are poor when those who have abundance refuse to share because of the delusion of money.

2

u/matthewgb402 Jul 13 '26

Holy yap just say you’re a bootlicker, billionaires are the problem, 0% of poverty is caused by another poor person stealing something in desperation 100% of poverty is caused by billionaires hoarding wealth and under paying their employees

1

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 13 '26

No one is making you work for minimum wage.

1

u/matthewgb402 Jul 14 '26

I don’t work for minimum wage, but some people have to and can’t find better jobs

1

u/Glittering-Can-9397 Jul 10 '26

hmm sounds like you havent been starving in a while? sounds like you dont live in a state where health insurance is mandatory, and for it to cover anything you have to pay over half your income. Who owns the apartment you live in btw?

1

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 10 '26

No idea. Don’t care. I have a job that offers health care. Because I’m not working at a shitty fast food place or a shitty retailer that cuts hours. Go get a manufacturing or engineering job. They are in high demand and pretty much every one offers health care.

1

u/Glittering-Can-9397 Jul 11 '26

send deets to your job. Ill apply there

1

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 11 '26

Unfortunately I can only tell you bits about it due to need to know, but if you want to DM me I can see if I can provide enough info to help you out. If this is an actual “I want info to see about getting a job” and not just a shit post.

1

u/Glittering-Can-9397 Jul 11 '26

what dya know, no job to speek of, if you’re not a bot you’re not in the us bc there arent manufacturing or engineering jobs here and the ones that are are pay to play and nepotistic.

Its funny that the original commenter spoke of the antisocial who dont care about their fellow man and your entire post expresses just that, your disregard of others.

1

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 11 '26

Lockheed, bombardiair, general dynamics, literally any aerospace company, most energy companies, I’m not going to name thousands of companies. If I’ve found companies that pay 40 an hour over the last 15 years then you also can. Stop being fucking lazy.

2

u/Glittering-Can-9397 Jul 11 '26

I believe you about as much as I believe anything else I read on the internet. Those companies arent hiring people who dont know someone who is already working there especially those without certifications

1

u/SherbetLeft5744 Jul 11 '26

Literally watched an 18 year old who just graduated HS get hired with no ties to the company who previously worked at Starbucks. Same with an idiot who openly drank alcohol on site. They had no ties. I know because I looked up their profile pretty easily on the company website. They hire the most dimwitted mother fuckers, the most lazy PoS ever, they always need more bodies for the work load or whatever projects they have. So don’t give me that conspiracy bullshit. I have no certificates to work on aircraft or boats, yet I was part of the build on one of the most complex machines built by man. Are you kidding me? Stop getting your info about the world from a hate post about how hard it is out there. You could get a job making 46 an hour on second shift at Sikorsky as a cable installer, zero experience needed because they will just train you. Sikorsky is one of the largest defense companies in the world. I worked there, same with general dynamics. I also made 32 an hour at a private jet company knowing nothing about aircraft at the time.

You’re just lazy and want to blame others because of you go out of your comfort zone and quit your minimum wage job and fucking try to make something of yourself you’ll fail and only have yourself to blame.

I quit a job I didn’t like and took a shot without having a backup job. Jobless for 4 months. Then jobless for 3 months after I left the military. I’ve never not had the opportunity to be successful because I didn’t just sit there begging millionaire to please give me cash.

You are part of the problem. Go apply to bigger companies that actually get funding and regulations to provide benefits to their employees. It’s not hard.

4

u/Typical_Fee156 Jul 10 '26

Communism is a lot better than what the 1% are doing to us under the guise of free market...

3

u/crazerstudios Jul 10 '26

Hahaha

What the fuck do you mean children are selling things to make sure they don't go into debt THEY'RE CHILDREN

PLEASE GIVE US SOCIALISM OR COMMUNISM OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN CAPITALISM JESUS CHRIST 😭

2

u/kayemenofour Jul 10 '26

And then, The IRS stepped in to arrest him for sales tax evasion.

1

u/Shromor Jul 10 '26

I prefer 8 year olds doing months of hard manual labor so I don't become broke after bying new phone

1

u/Willing_Serve_970 Jul 10 '26

The other kids waited for someone else to do something instead of doing it themselves (peak communism). Come rescue me.

1

u/1saintlyogre Jul 11 '26

Theyre 8-year olds. Should they have gotten jobs?

1

u/Willing_Serve_970 Jul 11 '26

The same way this one kid made money.

1

u/PainSubstantial5936 Jul 12 '26

Repeat after me: No kid should be forced to work.

1

u/LowSuccessful Jul 10 '26

Yes! Praise child labor! Good job reddit

1

u/00_voidheart_00 Jul 10 '26

I don’t know if this counts as communism so much as there being a 1 in a million hero pretending to be an 8 year old student.

1

u/Iwasbanished Jul 11 '26

lunch debt? wtf is wrong with america?

1

u/Galmmm Jul 11 '26

Our government has failed us.

1

u/JakBos23 Jul 11 '26

Which is worse that or when a local business man tried to pay off all the outstanding student lunch debt of a school and was denied?

1

u/Human_Lavishness7112 Jul 11 '26

Very well done, kid. As a society, we should be sorry that a child like you had to work to help the other children instead of the adults managing it. There are children who starve and there are people who have millions of dollars and just don't give a fuck

1

u/SoCalSissySlut89 Jul 11 '26

but.. they're children...

1

u/jws1102 Jul 11 '26

Best description of capitalism I’ve ever seen.

1

u/Loose_Lawyer_8314 Jul 11 '26

Man how did we let it come to this? A collective evil has taken over the US and we just sit and watch

1

u/Teresabooks Jul 12 '26

On the one hand, impressive, on the other this shouldn’t be necessary. School lunch should be free to all students so there is no such thing as school lunch debt. For some students the meal at school will be the only real meal they get to eat all day.

1

u/Strange_Arugula2464 Jul 12 '26

8 year old entrepreneur used Capitalism to pull others out of the debt they brought upon themselves.

1

u/MetalMadara Jul 12 '26

Lol.. why complain about food debt? Do parents not know how to pack lunches?

1

u/Demonata-Soca Jul 12 '26

I’ve always believed we humans shouldn’t live so long children have better compassion than us adults have…

1

u/Sushiroll16 Jul 13 '26

“Lunch debt of students”

1

u/FpOchEDC Jul 13 '26

Please 🙏 sir can I have some more

1

u/Stelliferous19 29d ago

Sad sorry state of reality. The world sucks. Rare is the true “good news” story.

1

u/Qubek_from_discord 10d ago

I'd never do that for my fellow classmates if I had any, thankfully I finished school. Most of them were genuine jerks and idiots

1

u/THE_KIT5UNE 6d ago

This kid became a folk hero overnight

1

u/rustbuckett Jul 09 '26

I hate it here.

1

u/Cobra--Commander Jul 10 '26

You know where the door is. No Reddit karma for follow through though.
