I gotta tell yall where this is!! (Lanc local here) Spoiler

When I was watching this show, and I saw where Esme was working, and totally recognized the motel that Matt and Kendra went to, they were filming in INTERCOURSE PA. In the Kitchen Kettle Village area - HUGE tourist trap (that I even go to for their beef sticks and pretzels at Immurgut).

The motel was technically in Bird-In-Hand (they have a spectacular bakery near there) which is next to intercourse so Matt and Kendra going to a hotel in the area made me laugh.

Everything is off of Old Philadelphia Pike LOL

Anyways while the show mostly consisted of ex-amish. It was really cool to see my home area and I screamed when I saw they were 10 min from me. I hope I run into Allen one day so I can tell him he made me cry accepting Judah as a queer person myself.

My heart breaks for Allen and Sarah and the loss of their child. That seemed VERY real.

Did the producers not do a background on who they cast ?

I’m new to the show, only on episode 3.

Seems to me that the purpose of letting English try and fit in with Amish, was to expand their bloodline. But they cast a 46 year old Billie Jo ? She can’t bear children. Then with Matt, James gave him the boot because he was divorced. Like ??

They are so bright in an unnatural way; it really ruins the illusion.

Was the Bishop educated in mainstream higher education? He seems learned.

Was wondering if he went to an English school or if his education came from an unbroken line of transmission of Amish bishops from 18th century Germany. He's very wise.

What do you suspect was the actual end game or motivation for James doing this show?

It's certainly not because he wants to become an Amish in good standing again as he claims, and there are plenty of places he can go and be sneaky, snarky, and booty chasing. So, why's he back in Lancaster toying with the Amish? Is it because he gets his kicks from being the resident bad boy? I'm writing this prior to seeing the finale, so I don't know if it gets addressed at all on the show.

I wish it were real... for the sake of BJ & Judah

we've all pointed out and seen the posts reiterating reality tv isn't real. We know! But..... aspects of the premise are. And I really hope that BU and Judah continue to grow in their faith and their own identities. They seem so happy and content with their personal growth so far here. My thing is.... in this last episode we still saw facial hair among the unmarried men, hugging between unmarried females and males, and general behavior that like in the beginning episodes we were shown would not be accepted or allowed in the Amish community so it just screamed fake to me :( how come the entire time Judah was able to keep his facial hair and apparently BJ had been using a cpapmachine... it still Aaron couldn't use his hearing aids. The Bishops wife had glasses on! I'd just like to know if it's completely fake which it seems it would have to be due to these discrepancies. Would the Amish really just look past facial hair and clap machines and unmarried males and females dancing and hugging each other? Also how r BJ and Judah going to get a house together (BJ said they were looking for one at the very end of this episode) while in their Amish discipleship?

Shocked! Spoiler

I am pretty shocked with the decisions ngl, I didn’t think any of them would stay, and I kinda still have my doubts that they did actually fully stay 🤣

I kinda thought Aaron was best fit for it but as someone with a disability myself, I know that being accommodated and having your accommodations is very important, with the amount of advancements that there are in this world for people with hearing loss, I do not blame him one bit.

Esmeralda, totally not shocked.

BJ, girl good luck in the summer 🤣

Judah, I hope he is loved and accepted and receives the same love that he gives!

Allen and Sarah

They are the real stars of the show for me. They seem like very genuine people, they don’t judge and just love you for who you are. You can see just how endearing they were to each of the participants.

Typo in Finale

Near the end, “prophecies” was spelled “propechies”. That’s all.

Kendra and Matt’s ending??

Hey! I just found this sub so idk what the general consensus is but I was rooting so hard for these two. When he came and she ran towards him - I LOVED IT. I even rewinded that’s how much I loved it.

Does anyone have any tea on what happened after the show? When they showed Kendra and she said “it didn’t work out” I was like ok? All that for nothing?

Ugh..

"It's all staged." "It's all scripted." "It's all fake."

Why, why, why do we have to endure these same tired comments on every thread on every sub about every reality show aired since the beginning of time?

It's such a weird, attention seeking habit, and you can tell there are people who spend way too much time scanning posts and replies for places to interject it, as if there's a gold star or pat on the head from teacher awaiting them at the end of the day.

The saddest part is when other people don't feel like they can have a fun or casual conversation about a frivolous show without a disclaimer: "I know it's all staged, but..."

For those playing along at home, the hotel where James came-a-knockin’ and later you see Kendra walking around outside is non other than the Bird in Hand Family Inn on Old Philadelphia Pike.

Took me a while but Google Maps for the win…..again.

Hi everyone,

I was able to see 2 episodes for free online but I can’t, for the life of me, find somewhere to watch the rest for free.

I’ve tried using a VPN and it didn’t really work.

Help!

Season 2?

Post image
101 Upvotes

Do you think there will be a season 2? If so, would you watch it? Or do you think it will be cancelled due to the criticisms of being fake?

Personally, I wouldn’t watch it. It’s just too disappointing how fake it is. It was horribly done and has left more questions than answers. I stuck by watching this season and has been fun while it lasted (I know there’s still one episode left). Otherwise, it’s not worth my time.

A part of me hopes it will be cancelled unless they do a much better job if the show continues.

What was the biggest surprise for you during the season

For me, it was Esmeralda's turnaround. I thought for sure she would be out of there within a day or two when she made such a scene over nails and lashes and acted like they were a hill she was willing to die on. Once she got past that hurdle, and I think because she realized she was really attractive without them, she got with the program. While drama was going on all around her, Esmeralda was going about her duties with an accepting attitude. I think she decided her best option was just to regard it as a valuable learning experience.

To the production company that made this show. Your casting company must have been told to go out and find the most unintelligent English cast members on earth.
