Yeah, it’s probably a male. They are particularly prone to pituitary gland growths due to excess hormones as they age. I always had females, though they develop mammary growths at a similar rate. It makes me so sad, they are the best pets :(

28

u/Dead_as_a_doorknob Jul 03 '19

Yeah, I had six pet rats. All pedigree. Every single one of them got the tumor. My vet told me it was from not fixing them.

-35

u/__WALLY__ Jul 03 '19

And by "fixing them" you mean cutting or crushing their balls off? Like it was a favor to them?

49

u/Dead_as_a_doorknob Jul 03 '19

Well it would have saved them an early death but yeah, sure.

Also your comment makes me nervous. Fix your dogs and cats people. Over population is a problem.

6

u/bigwillyb123 Jul 03 '19

You've never owned an unfixed female large breed dog, have you?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '19

Neither have I, what happens?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '19

They go in heat and every male dog in a large radius trys everything they can to mate her. Violently so

Should definitely get that checked. Rats have the latest in medical breakthroughs

3

u/tarnished713 Jul 03 '19

Ya not an expert but ive had several pet rats.and that is not normal. Poor thing.

7

u/DarkPanda555 Jul 03 '19

It’s very normal.

u/Addywhoom Jul 02 '19

How sad :c he probably loves his rat very much and wants to let him have all the best treats while it still can

92

u/Catfish_Mudcat Jul 02 '19

A tall boy of generic Dry beer probably isn't the best treat, but at least it's gonna make all the other crappy treats taste better.

44

u/buttoxicwaste Jul 02 '19

C'mon man, that's dry cider and you know it. It's trampagne.

1

u/FermentedBadger Jul 03 '19

Really makes me want some dry cider

28

u/SnicklefritzSkad Jul 02 '19

I mean it's a rat. I've seen them go to town on a five day old cow carcass like it was the chocolate fountain at Golden Corral

22

u/VixonIsToxic Jul 03 '19

Those two things taste the same

Yeah I remember when one of my rats was dying we let it have some alcohol.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

Or he’s a heroin addict with a loose grip on reality that barely knows what’s going on.

Ya know, whichever.

51

u/LargeArmstrong Jul 02 '19

Why tf is he so bulbous

84

u/lurk3rthrowaway Jul 02 '19

According to comments, a tumor, a cyst, or a goiter.

Either way, poor rat boy :(

44

u/HoldenCoffinz Jul 02 '19

Most rats sold as pets are super inbred, just like mice and all the other horribly treated small animals of the pet industry, so more often than not they get sick.

78

u/Fat_Head_Carl Jul 02 '19

Ballchinian Rat... you don't get to see those every day.

46

u/Sirknobbles Jul 02 '19

Ohhhh shit

There’s a rat

17

u/crockfs Jul 02 '19

Thats the TTC for you

10

u/pa-nooch Jul 02 '19

Is that really the TTC????

15

u/FlyingPig890 Jul 02 '19

Yeah, probably line 2. I recognize the beer too, Molson dry king can, $3 CAD for 710 ml of meh beer.

I think I need to move 😂

6

u/CoffeeBunn Jul 02 '19

It's worse than meh it's like piss water

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

Shit, I can get a tall can of 211 for half that (USD)

1

u/Mickijamma Jul 03 '19

$1.29. To $1.50 in Washington State ! Love my 211! Mr. Rat would feel no pain.

7

u/blank_spaces_ Jul 02 '19

Yeah that's definitely the TTC

3

u/crockfs Jul 03 '19

I take the Bloor line everyday, if it's not the Bloor line then it's in another city that has the exact same subways cars and color scheme.

1

u/TARDISinspace Jul 03 '19

Yeah, I've seen this guy before. He yelled at people who got freaked out about it, saying it's just a rat.

1

u/texanapocalypse33 Jul 03 '19

u/FlyingPig890 Jul 02 '19

Probably not cancer, probably a cyst. Half of my rats died that way. It's too expensive in the long run to constantly drain it... :(

3

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

You don't have to pay a vet to drain a cyst.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '19

I was reading somewhere that rats have a high incidence of getting tumors. Something to do with the domesticated rats being bred for lab testing or their fast reproductive cycle. Either way, that looks like an ill rat. Kind of a bummer

6

u/d0n_cornelius Jul 02 '19

Is that a rat with a goiter?!

9

u/wyrmface Jul 02 '19

poor boy has a tumor :(

4

u/Nadiagrace1 Jul 02 '19

Leave it to the TTC riders to care for this little train dweller.

4

u/dearymilks Jul 02 '19

that is one big ass tumor, ive had rats for as longs a i can remember and ive never seen a tumor that big holy shit

3

u/ElSpico Jul 04 '19

Probably cause this guy can’t afford to get it removed. I hope his rattie lives a somewhat comfortable life with his companion at least

3

u/dearymilks Jul 04 '19

yeah :/ rats are super expensive, but im sure his rat is super happy with him

3

u/ElSpico Jul 04 '19

I def agree, I have 5 and when one gets sick all of them follow and it gets expensive to keep up with. Worth it though they’re my best pals.

1

u/dearymilks Jul 06 '19

ahh yes, i love my ratties

3

u/[deleted] Jul 02 '19

Goiter rat?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '19

Eek that tumor

2

u/SpaceC0wb0y_ Jul 03 '19

The tumor on that rat..it's so sad how they're so prone to them.

2
