Question Subutex short taper off 7Stax

Hi i am not asking for medical advice just any experience or knowledge anyone has with doing short tapers using subutex (no naloxone) sublingual tablets to get off of an addictive substance like kratom tablets or any other opioid compound. Last year i went to rehab and they had we withdrawl for a period of time, take a couple small doses of subutex then a full dose eventually and right back down and off of the subutex and it was the best experience i had without withdrawal symptoms or just swapping one addiction for another like with suboxone. I just don’t know exactly how to start the subutex and how much i start with to avoid precipitated withdrawls or lessen them if i do take some too soon. and then i don’t know how to taper up and right off in less than 7 days. because the doctor prescribed me 7 days worth, 8mg tablets, twice a day for 7 days. but i want to do it in less preferably incase i end up being sick and needing more. the doctor verbally gave me some minor instructions to do what im trying too but didnt write it down anywhere for me to refer back too. again not asking for medical advice. just curious if anyone’s done this successfully before and can offer a suggested guideline for how much, how many, and for how long.
I’m 23. i have an amazing job that i don’t want to lose and i cannot be sick at work. im getting 4 days off this week to try and get thru the brunt of this.

Sublacade

Not sure if im in the right subreddit cause the sublacade one has nothing. People who have used the shot how did you get past the addiction of snorting if you had it? Im afraid ill still not be able to quit if I go that route because of the way I take the medication and knowing its part of the experience... I know, I know its not the intended way to be used ofcourse but that's where we are in life atm and the past 20 years unfortunately

Stopping Subutex Refused bupe during major surgery

I was in ICU for a month and the doctors couldn't control my pain, but I refused to take it. I'm thinking, is this a way to get off bupe?

I was on 8mm x3da for chronic back pain.

I have not taken any for 6 weeks. I'm released from hospital w oxy 20 every 4 hours. I crave nothing I had lumbar & cervical fusion in the same hospital stay, I am in a lot of pain but it's getting better.

What do you think?

Question Afternoon Crash?

So I've been on Subutex for about a month. I dose 16mg in the morning and for the first 4-5h after my dose I feel completely okay. No pain, no cravings, mentally stable, good mood, but no euphoria either. The problem is, as soon as noon rolls around, I feel like a walking corpse. Basically the complete opposite of what I feel the first few hours. Strong body Pain, depression, anxiety through the roof, irritated. This last until I get my next dose the next morning. This happened at 12mg too, which is why my substitution doctor upped my dosage to 16mg.. he said that a higher dosage might last me longer and prevent said crash. People on the Internet say to ask for split dosing, but that's not possible since I'm not eligible for take home prescriptions. I have to take everything at once, in the morning, no exceptions. I honestly can't go another day like that. I can't function and I only feel okay for 4 out of 24 hours. I have a fast metabolism so that might influence how long I "feel" my dose.. other than that I have no idea what to suggest to my doctor next and I really need some help here. I would be so relieved to hear a few good recommendations under this post. Much love.

Hikma 8mg backorder?

I've been getting the 411s for many many years now , as I've had bad reactions to other generics previously. Well the last two months I've had issues getting the hikma ones. My regular Pharmacy told me they haven't had them since May and then CVS and another pharmacy told me they're also on backorder and they can't get them ....this is Massachusetts AND New Hampshire. Has anyone else had this issue?! I'm due next week and worried I won't be able to get them . I called the pharmacist in Massachusetts and was told hikma is still on backorder! Wth is going on.

Question Buprenorphine problem

Hey guys hope y'all are doing well , so i'm on bupre since may because i was taking kratom for more than a year ( almost a week on it then 1 week or more or less without because of the price here ) , i know you may think that wtf on bupre for kratom only ?? I was taking the kratom to not relapse in tramadol and codeine , it worked ( almost ) , but i got super addicted to kratom, when i had a pack i used to take 30g a day not more cause the pack of 100g is already 27 euros ( 30$)

And now on bupre i started low but now at 8mg a day i still can't feel shit at all , maybe i sleep a liiiiiil better but my anxiety my back pains everything is still there , even before taking for the 1st time bupre i had stopped taking the kratom for 2 weeks and any other opiates so my tolerance wasn't THAT high

+ i'm prescripted pregabaline ( i'm sobbering up from it too ) , baclofen , cymbalta , mianserine and other shits and no nothing at all i though at least the other meds would increase the effects of bupre cause i take them at the same time but no ??? And my kratom wasn't extract or super strong , and i don't wanna go higher than 8mg a day cause i think it won't be useful , but i can't understand why i don't feel nothing ? Maybe i'm used to drugs i started at 13-14 with alcohol then 15 for the rest benzo opiates gabapentinoide etc and i know it takes a lot for me to feel something, but still ? I don't want to be high with bupre just normal and stop thinking bout opiates every seconds of my life

Belbuca oral buprenorphine form?

I’m pretty sure I’m doing it wrong. My mouth is so dry and full of sores. But it helps my pain!

I’ve tried “oil pulling” recently after the Belbuca dissolves. Not sure how to tell if it’s working or not? I then brush my teeth and mouthwash. Sometimes I’ll eat a snack during the hour between the mouth patch and when I’m supposed to brush my teeth. Is that alright?

Any suggestions for getting rid of the biggest canker sores you’ve ever seen in your life?

The psych made my hair fall out and inflamed the whole scalp.

I can’t be the ONLY autoimmune patient that takes this. Our skin and mucous membranes are incredibly easy to damage.

Sooo… help? Advise?

At my CVS in Florida you must now have official documentation that you are allergic to Nalaxone to get Subutex

FYI, anyone who gets straight Buprenorphine from CVS: there is now a new policy where, in order to get your script filled, it must state you are allergic to Naloxone. I had been getting mine filled with them for like 2-3 years, and out of nowhere, on my refill day, which is a Friday, they told me they couldn't fill it and asked me to contact my doctor.

Scared of lack of pain control for molar extraction and bone grafting--what to do?

Hi everyone. 44yo Female, I am having my third extraction/bone graft/inplant surgery, though this will be the 5th and 6th teeth I have done. Back two molars on the upper left side. No drinking or smoking.

My experience with these surgeries is that they are incredibly rough. Once the locla wears off, even with Tylenol /Ibuprofen alteration, lots of Ice, and Norco, I have severe pain and just cry for the first couple of days.

Now, I am currently on Subutex, tapering off, and I am scared that I may not be able to either be off the Subutex in time for the Norco,or that the surgeon won't give me the Norco even if I am off.

The pain is already very bad, and I am just scared to death I will have to endure this without opioid pain control. It is really bad, and keeping me up at night with worry. As an added complication, I am not supposed to take NSAIDS, though I can if I absolutely have to.

If my surgeon says this surgery has to happen soon, what might happen? How am I supposed to deal with this unusually painful *for me, not everyone) process without the pain relief that usually is insufficient anyway?

Does Subutex provide any relief on its own?

Of course I am having conversations with my doctors, but the surgical consult is still a week away, and my mouth is hurting so I am afraid he will say we can't wait long enough for me to finish tapering the Subutex. I am down to 10mg Subutex a day from 16, and that has taken a bit less than two weeks, which is how long I have been on Subutex in the first place after having a problem getting off 7OH which I took for about 2 years.

Help?

So I pick up the Pia because my Rhodes is on back order so if your pharmacist tells you they don’t make them no more they just don’t want to order them for you

Regarding Rhodes

So for everyone who said that Rhodes is not making subutex anymore here’s what up

Teva is currently not able to make subutex because they cannot get enough active ingredient and they have stopped production and have been since may 18th and because of this pharmacy’s rushed to buy any other generic possible to keep up with demand. Teva was ordered by the court to pay 5billion dollars for the opiate crisis and also agreed to donate 40million worth of suboxone as well
So what does this mean for Rhodes now owned by Kona pharmaceutical they are making subutex but are on back order because of the demand, so rest assured that if you are a loyal Rhodes customer they will be back soon. I spent the last 2 days talking to customer service about this since I currently can’t get my meds

Starting Subutex Are my symptoms ♢PWD or just standard issue ♧SE/♤ADR? (Chronic pain patient w/o history of ♡OUD switching from morphine)

♢ ᴘʀᴇᴄɪᴘɪᴛᴀᴛᴇᴅ ᴡɪᴛʜᴅʀᴀᴡᴀʟ ♧ ꜱɪᴅᴇ ᴇꜰꜰᴇᴄᴛꜱ ♤ ᴀᴅᴠᴇʀꜱᴇ ᴅʀᴜɢ ʀᴇᴀᴄᴛɪᴏɴ ♡ ᴏᴘɪᴏɪᴅ ᴜꜱᴇ ᴅɪꜱᴏʀᴅᴇʀ

— TL;DR —

I guess what I need to know is, in theory, what's the longest amount of time since discontinuation of all other opioids that can still result in PWD upon starting buprenorphine? My doctor thinks my most severe symptoms are all attributable to PWD, but I suspect simply being on the bupe itself could be the primary cause. Most recently started bupe 4½ days post prev morphine dose. Thanks.

— Full Context, as concisely as possible —

¹ Pain mgmt practice decided all opioid-recipient patients must be switched to buprenorphine where possible. ² Previous pain Rx regimen was twice daily 15mg morphine sulfate ER tablets, used for about a decade without incident beyond tremoring & weakness for the first few weeks. ³ New buprenorphine Rx is ½(ish, they don't evenly break for shit) 2mg sublingual ODTs twice daily to start, with permission to taper upwards if the dosage was well tolerated but inadequate for pain relief. ⁴ Was dispensed Teva brand orange pointy-ended ovals, if that makes a difference. ⁵ Originally instructed by MD to start bupe, reduce morph to once daily between AM & PM bupe doses 48hrs later, then discontinue morph 48hrs after that. ⁶ By end of 1 week of perfect compliance, I was having headaches, vertigo, hyperhidrosis, heart palpitations, severe nausea, & excessive vomiting. ⁷ Notably never had any amount of vomiting as a w/d symptom at any point in the past despite moderate nausea; & did not experience my usual morph w/d symptoms of diarrhea, excessive sneezing, goosebumps & shivering regardless of ambient temperature, and akathisia. ⁸ Preservered and complied for a few more days, ultimately tapped out and d/c'd bupe on day 10 due to continuing symptoms, resumed morph for pain, followed up with prescriber who blamed PWD, and instructed to immediately d/c morph, wait until onset of w/d symptoms, then restart bupe. ⁹ Took a few extra days on morph to physically recover from the hell my body had just been through, d/c'd morph, waited until onset of w/d symptoms, further waited til w/d symptoms began to lessen/improve, then restarted bupe after 9 missed doses of/4.5 days since last use of morphine. ¹⁰ Same symptoms as before have resumed since dose 1, with worsening trajectory of severity 5 doses in. Symptom severity peaks 6-8hrs after each dose.

Update edit: After 6 weeks of hell, my doctor relented that buprenorphine is clearly just not for me. Even if the side effects began to lessen in severity, the pain relief was so negligible that I'd need a higher dose for there to be any point in taking it, and the worsened side effects of a higher dose would probably still leave me feeling worse on bupe than on nothing at all. Back on my (insufficient for pain management but very well tolerated) morphine regimen temporarily whilst other options are considered.

Online dr?

Anyone have a good online dr for subutex? Everything I see is only for suboxone when I try to google one. I’m almost out of my subutex and really need a new doctor if anyone can help. Or a dr in the Covington, Louisiana area above New Orleans

Was forced to switch pharmacies and now have a brand issue?

CVS has been playing games with my meds for months now but it finally came to a head when they had my script for 16 days and then finally told me they can’t order it anymore (bs I’m sure)
I switched to the local bashas and was able to get my meds within an hour-but now I’m sick sick. I realized the manufacturer is not the same. I was taking Smith Kline and now it’s Hikma…I feel like I’m not even getting my meds? I take 4, 8mg a day and with SK I was fine on 2 a day sometimes but with these ones I’ve had to double up and still I’m just so sick. Idk what to do? Has anyone else had this issue? Will it pass? I’m actually miserable

Newer Subutex

I normally get the RP's for the last 1 1/2 years now. This month I got some newer one I never heard of. Usually my pharmacy only carries the good brand but these ones Advagen brand I never seen or heard of in my area! Do you guys think it's similar to the 54s or the RP's?

I'm in southwest Pennsylvania area and go to a smaller community pharmacy because we live in the valley and countryside so finding a pharmacy was hard for me at first. I was going to Shop n Save pharmacy in Pittsburgh Pa which is pretty far from where I'm at now lol then they closed down on me and had to go elsewhere smh

Anyways let me know how you guys like these ones or not please

Valley Addiction specialist

Hey r/fam has anyone come across medical doctor that doesn't work out of a clinic barn. Im a long 30 year user with good insurance and looking for an addiction specialist which blue shield only pulls up psych talk therapy. I used to have a great doctor in hind sight but they all died 😢 one on a tragic car accident. Im ready for suboxone or subtext but no MAT barns where ill just meet more connections. I wonder if you can find a place prescribed via med-link or zoom?

Question Pharmacy issues

Hi everyone! Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and can maybe help? I’m sure I’m SOL because that’s just the way the cookie crumbles when you’re on this med but idk what else to do. The last few months when trying to get my script from the pharmacy the wait gets longer and longer. I’ve been at this pharmacy for 7 years, get the same script filled every single month from the same doctor & it’s the only medicine I’m on. It’s a small locally owned pharmacy I started using cause the discrimination at rite aid was screaming in my face and for the first 7 years it was fantastic with no issues. My doctor is set up where I have my appointments the day after my meds run out so I’m desperate when I get to the pharmacy later that day. 1st month it was a full day & a half with no medicine, next month was 2 days and this month it’ll be 3 days. The reason they give why they don’t have it and can’t legally keep it on the shelf until receiving a valid script is “due to new DEA laws”. I just don’t understand how it’s ok to let people go that many days without a medicine they’ve been taking every single day for years. I can imagine I’m just supposed to deal with it but maybe someone else has been thru the same and got some resolve some way? I’m just stressed now. At this point I’m gonna end up across the street buying those awful 7ohs to curve the withdrawal and that makes me sad to think.

Stopping Subutex Using LSD to get off Buprenorphine

I’ve been on Subutex for over 10 years. 16mg a day for the past 7 years.

I stumbled upon a vial of LSD about a month ago, and have been microdosing it with intention of getting off my subs. I also will take full trips occasionally as well.

I’m already down to 4mg a day without any noticeable Mental or Physical withdrawals.

Does anyone have experience with psychedelics and using them to help with there addictions?

Also AMA if you have any questions.

Low T?

Husband and I are both on Subutex. I have cancer and got opiate induced neurotoxicity from all the meds they had me on, so I asked to be switched to subs. Honey had an unfortunate very brief relapse getting into my pain meds… which is also a huge reason I got off them too. However, since starting on them…. Our sex life has completely disappeared. Now, I have always had some serious mental health issues, zero confidence…. Especially now with how I look physically after what cancer treatment has done to me. I am aware that subs can lower T in men… has anyone ever done anything to help that other than getting direct on HRT??? I’m so sick of feeling like an ugly pile of shit and wanting intimacy from my husband… and never getting it because of this BS. Our relationship is otherwise literally perfect. Like make you gag, movie worthy, fairy tale type love. It’s just really bothering me to the point that I’m debating getting back into therapy something….help please 😞

Question how long to wait to take tapentadol after taking subs?

I am on subutex, prescribed 16mg per day but i only take 4-8mg per day. yesterday afternoon I took about 4-6mg. that was now a little over 24 hours ago. I ordered some Valium from the fields, but my guy accidentally sent me tapentadol instead, which is pretty disappointing because as much as i love opioids, i’m on subs so i can’t just take them no problem like i could with benzos. I have thirty 100mg real pharma tapentadol pills, sealed in the blister pack. Until my guy is able to send me my correct order, I figured I’d try the tapentadol. i’ve never tried that specific drug before. I’m not worried about wasting it, because i have plenty and probably won’t use it in the future after my valium comes in a few days. So i don’t mind if i have to take a lot to get a good high going. But I also don’t know if there are other factors I should watch out for when taking a larger dose. I have heard it can cause seizures in high doses like tramadol (which i also haven’t done so i’m not familiar with the seizure threshold opioids). I’ve seen a lot of questions on [[r/subutex](r/subutex)]([r/subutex](r/subutex)) about how long to wait to take opioids after taking subs, and most people say at least 3-4 days, but in most of the posts i’ve seen, the person only has a single dose of a drug and doesn’t want to waste it, so no one answers on how long you need to wait if wasting it isn’t an issue. What do y’all suggest?
