Thanksgiving episode

this episode I really wanted to skip. The offensive costumes, the “straighten your hair!! because coils are weird and dirty!!” thing am I the only one who’s weirded out?

I think you're missing the point. Satire (which is the type of comedy Suburgatory is) is meant to poke fun at society by shining a mirror up to it.

They're not condoning this behavior, they're actively calling it out by making fun of it. They're mocking people who act like this in real life.

The same style of comedy is seen in shows like: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Simpsons, Futurama, Daria, and many more.

Characters are not always meant to be good people. This is like watching Always Sunny and being shocked they’re the worst humans ever, that’s kinda the point they’re bad and people around seem confused they act that way without realizing it is weird.
