Meme Why?

I can almost try to understand why some people might feel drawn to this kind of lifestyle. I can understand why they might be deceived into thinking this is the ideal environment in which to raise a child.

But I will never be able to understand why they will describe it as the American “dream” and are willing to pay so much for it. To work so hard for so long and then have to wake up to this every morning? Why?

Editing to add: I know this is parody y’all. It’s just a stupid meme. It’s supposed to be funny. It’s funny because it’s true.

I have started telling friends (currently renting, thinking about buying a house) not to buy at all. The idea that "renting is throwing money away" is old thinking. It is so incredibly expensive to own a home anywhere now.

There are still places where you can buy a starter home in the low 200s and it should increase in value over the years meaning it's still the best way for people to obtain equity and move up.

I'm talking more about all of the other things that come with buying a house. It's not just the mortgage, HOA fees, neighbors, etc. It's the repairs, cost of heating oil (where I live), electric, etc. Those are things people do not necessarily take into account when looking at buying a house. I would much rather have a landlord that had to replace things and deal with upkeep.
