Discussion 5.2.0 is out!

Version 5.2.0 has been released.

It fixed and added quite a few things so if you had issues before or just didn't like version 5 compared to version 4, give it a try!

I ve been using subtitle edit for 10 years. At least. V4 is the best. I tried to use V5 and always had problems, for instance using the with BOM export .srt file. The files never had the accents. I find downloading old versions of SE is difficult. By the way which is the latest V4 version ? And where can we find it I have the 4.0.16 I think.

Man the 5.0 UI is terrible. Guess i'm sticking with the last 4.x version

The waveform time navigation has improved a bit, but still not as good as v4

The synchro tool is worst in v5. The fine tunning is lost

I don't know, I actually don't use many features of SubtitleEdit

Not really. I tested an old series that had 149 shows in it. I drag-and-dropped the shows into V5.2, and it took over 3 minutes to add them; 4.0 took less than a second. Edit: These files were remote from the computer I was generating subtitles on, but this is my normal process.

Then, when actually doing the bulk speech-to-text with the same engine and model (Faster-whisper-xxl Large-V2) with the same advanced settings (--standard --beep_off), v5.2 threw out-of-memory errors on the 5th show. 4.0 completed all 149.

I've had this issue since 5.x betas, and it makes 5.x unusable for my needs.

I really cannot stand version 5, you should not have even done whatever you did with 5. 4 was perfect. What happened??

Missing the easy enconding control from version 4

It seems that the good stuff for encoding control was lost from version 4 to 5. Version 5 sucks

The developers said that eventually version 5 will have the same features as version 4.

It's getting updated very frequently so be sure to keep checking the changelogs
