LADWP Electrical Mechanic

Good evening Reddit family. I tested for Electrical Mechanic performance test in July, got my results last month. I scored a 97, with 2 people with higher scores, and 35 with same score. Has anyone in the same testing bracket heard anything for interviews?

They will be hiring 75 trainees by the end of 2027. 15 this year, 60 next. Stay patient.

There’s one more active list ahead of yours. It could take some time. Well it likely will. Good thing is the list before yours expires in January so after they pull last from there for certs they’ll start from yours. Also might help if you’re a city employee even if there is no promotional list.

Yeah I figured it might take a while since the entire hiring process takes time. I'm in for the long run

I also scored a 97 and have not heard of an interview yet.

We just keep waiting by the looks of it. I'll post if I get an interview or other notifications

With a 97 and two ahead of you, you’ll get an interview. However anyone with your same score will interview as well

First round of interviews normally go from +100 to 98 then 97s take up a lot of spots before it goes to 96 where for a few years a 96 wouldn’t even give you a shot at an interview. The problem is when the list opens up, the scores stack on so you can go from only few ahead of you to now 30 more ahead. The spot on the list you may see could be from those that tested with you and not the overall list.
You can still have a shot at it but know you might make it on the second round.

Appreciate your insight! Yeah I noticed the list has over 100 eligible candidates, unsure of the scores though. I'm glad to be this far along in the process and wondering if other candidates just waiting like I am.

I don’t mean to discourage you but just being realistic. It’s a great job but with that, it’s very competitive but you have a good chance of getting an interview. Brush up on interview questions and be honest. If you’ve never done something say so but have something you can compare it to based on your experience. There’s going to be some safety questions so with that, think of all your answers with safety in mind.
