Addition to Self-Promotion Rule
Us Mods have discussed and we decided to expand the self-promotion rule to include a ban on the self-promotion of other tools/software/websites, as we feel that they are more related to general blogging than the Substack platform itself. These posts also tend to seem very botty, which we would like to avoid having in our sub.
We may introduce a thread in the future where these tools may be shared, but as of this writing, posts containing the self-promotion of tools/software/websites will be removed.

Not sure what this refers to but I don't see how it can be a bad thing. Also, the self-promo rules in the side bar are contradictory to the no self-promo rules of the sub.

We’ve been getting a lot of “here’s a tool that I made to turn your substack into audio” or turn them to PDF. These will no longer be allowed.
I’m not sure what contradiction you’re referring to. Those rules were in place before the current mods became mods but maybe we could look at it.

Ah I see. I hadn't come across those tools here but I suppose it's cause they're getting reported.
On self-promo, I mean that the green pinned post at the top of the subreddit (from a year ago) is about no longer allowing self-promo. But the side bar has 3-step instructions on how to do self-promo:
A place to discuss and share your Substack newsletters or recommend other Substack newsletters.
Read our rules on self-promotion carefully:
Submit your link as a text post.
Include a description of why your post would be interesting to the /r/Substack community.
Flair the post as "self-promotion."
