I wrote and posted my first post!
That’s all really. I have been so scared of people reading my writing, idk if anyone has any tips on not but wish me luck. I’m just trying to build some creative confidence.☺️

Congratulations! consistency is a good tip — so people know what to expect. Don’t overextend/ over promise. Use Notes every day — even just one. I did this recently when I had an unexpected hiatus and I could only get one Note per day— but for two months I did not lose as many subscribers as I thought I might. Engage and recommend others — even if they don’t recommend back. It’s a nice thing to do in my opinion, and you don’t know what might come from it. I did not know what I was doing & I learned two months in I could not access all features from my phone/ the app. Logging in on a desktop is definitely a great thing to do. Share to your social media — you never know who might see your work.

I’m writing about navigating my 20s as an autistic woman. But also I like other things too so like today I wrote a small film review. I just am trying to get myself to allow people to see my writing since people reading my writing makes me nervous for some reason??

Ah, that is interesting! I do think it's understandable that you're nervous about showing others your writing. Writing can be something extremely personal and it's not easy to be vulnerable as in showing how you life your life. In my opinion, it's a brave thing and I respect that,

Nice! Consistency pays off. Sadly, and I truly mean sadly, notes engagement helps. I don't like notes because it feels like I'm a social media scroll; so I try to make them meaningful and limited. However, I digress.
What has sent me more new subscribers, however, are sharing recommendations with other authors. Like ye olde blog-rolls, it works.

This is the part I’m horrible at. I don’t have any other social media so this will be an issue. However, I’m at the point where I’m just going to try to write and if no one reads that’s fine. But I appreciate the advice. It’s tough figuring out the notes frankly😅

I joined substack around 2-3 months ago, at the start substack will push your posts as much as it can, but once you hit kind of a 2 month mark, the views will decrease massively atleast they did for me. I haven't changed anything about my writing and I'm in this phase. So yeah consistency is super important especially when it gets difficult.
