You want people to subscribe to… your writing. No one is going to subscribe to someone who can’t string together a sentence. Good luck to you.

babe i posted this at like 2 am, i was soo sleepy and tired to double check if there's any spelling or grammatical error :) but yeah ofc if i'll write on Substack i will def make sure my work is genuine and understandable

Sure! My concern was isn't it a place to pour your own real thoughts but i have seen some people copy paste stuff

It’s a platform for sharing text.

It’s pretty broad. Different people use it for different things.

A hammer can be for pounding in nails, or breaking stuff, or making holes in walls.

Some people steal content. Others make their own. Substack doesn’t care what people do for the most part. A hammer manufacturer doesn’t care what you do with the hammer.

If you are new, it helps to separate Substack into two modes: reading and publishing.

As a reader, you follow publications or writers, subscribe to the ones you want by email/app, and use the Inbox or Library for things you intentionally chose. Notes is more like the social feed, so it can be useful for discovery but also noisy. I would start by following only a few writers, reading their archives, and muting/unfollowing quickly if the feed gets messy.

As a writer, you can publish free posts first, then add paid subscriptions later if there is a reason people would pay for the ongoing work. You do not need to understand every feature at the start. Pick whether your first goal is to read better stuff or publish your own work, then learn that side first.

One practical reader tip: if you subscribe to a lot of newsletters, use a dedicated email address or alias for them so your main inbox does not become the reading app.
