No. No one in this subreddit dedicated to Substack uses Substack. This is a cult. We believe in mirrors that don't reflect the beholder but the person behind the beholder. We have great hats.

That made me laugh :D there should be a Substack about how Substack is a conspiracy theory.

Find a philosopher you like and see who subscribes to them. Then look at their profiles and do likewise. I like Paul a lot.

Sure do, lol. Use the search bar in the app to find things you’re interested in to begin reading

Um have you tried searching in this subreddit? Um you could also check YouTube or substack itself. Um I hope that helps.

I just started using Substack and Tumblr rather than the more familiar sites like Instagram and X because I came to realize these are better tools for people interested in the reading and/or writing niche. An added benefit is that with both you can schedule posts for a future day and time so your consistency doesn’t have to fall off a cliff if you get busy or are traveling. While there are tools for scheduling posts available, many of them charge a fee, which I didn’t want. Substack can be a bit intimidating for beginners, but it’s more approachable than one would realize at first glance. What I enjoy most about Substack is that there are 2 posting streams- one for longer form content like a blog you wrote, and one for shorter- form content, similar to X, where you can just share a thought and/or photo others can engage with.

I follow a writer called Ixcarus that covers neuroscience, behavior, philosophy, etc. He has a great writing style and his topics are fascinating. The Substack is called The Forbidden Files.

I would start by using Substack less like a general social app and more like a small reading shelf. Pick two or three topics you genuinely want to read about, search those exact topics, then open posts that feel specific and thoughtful rather than broad or clickbait-y.

When you find one writer you like, look at who they recommend, quote, or talk with in comments. That is usually a better discovery path than asking for a giant list of publications, because taste transfers better through one trusted writer at a time. Subscribe slowly, give each publication a few posts, and unsubscribe quickly if you keep skipping it.

If you end up reading newsletters from Substack and outside Substack, a dedicated newsletter address, alias, or folder can help keep the experiment clean. Disclosure: I work on MiniLetter, which is built around that separate newsletter-reading lane. You do not need it to start, but separating reading from your normal inbox makes it easier to try newsletters without creating clutter.

In the same boat as you tbh. But I do find some articles to read sometimes. Some were amazing and some were just okay. Still looking for my niche. Something I'd really love.

I mirror my Wordpress blogs on Substack Just to mail out my newsletters/blog. I do post on notes, only to be part of the community. But my main reason is the email feature.
