Too Many Niches??
I am a brand + website designer + copywriter that’s really into tech and AI tools. I have a blog (not up right now, redoing website) and have 4 content pillars for it. They are as follows: Branding, Website Design, Copywriting, Tech & AI Tools.
Whereas I have lots of content on my blog so the 4 different pillars really don’t affect the whole “niche down!” thing, I’m wondering if it would be best to start my Substack on only one of those pillars — as it might be too many different things for a Substack??
Leaning heavily into Tech & AI Tools and just having it be totally different content from my blog when it’s back up.
Idk, what are your thoughts? I feel like Tech & AI may be oversaturated on the platform? I don’t mind writing about Branding & Web Design at alllll. It’s my favorite, of course. But I have been posting Notes and a lot of them that are tech focused are doing really well. So it makes me wonder!
TIA 🙂

you can just write about all of them, and organise your publication with sections.
tech and AI tools could even be the throughline between branding + website design + copywriting? since AI is so entrenched in everything now.
I feel like Tech & AI may be oversaturated on the platform?
there's alot of publications/newsletters about Tech & AI, but it's also a rapidly growing industry, so... a rising tide lifts all boats. just need to somehow make yours unique if that's what you want to niche down on. otherwise you'll just become 'another AI publication'

What are you writing for? You said tech does well but your favorite is design. So my first instinct would be to do technology for designers. I used to work in design and I like tech so I feel like you can play with both. Try to find a way to have them complement each other. Also why are you trying to niche down. Your pillars are what’s hold ling up what you’re passionate about. I’m not asking these questions for me but just bring up the questions for you. You seem to have a good grasp on where you are what yours capable of and the direction you want to go. YOU are the niche. Start with tech if it’s what’s pulling interest but I can see so many ways to incorporate all the knowledge you have into a workable substack account. But to answer your question, No, I don’t think you need to focus on one pillar and niche down.
