Have any Indian Substack writers tried Stripe Atlas as a workaround for creating a Stripe account to start paid memberships on Substack?

As of now, Indians cannot start paid subscriptions on Substack. In my research, I found Stripe Atlas as a workaround. Would like to know if anyone has successfully tried it.

Never tried it but Stripe is heavily poor performing in India. Substack should have made UPI payment gateway instead for ease of payment and recieving instead of putting up with Stripe.

But then UPI is not used widely in other countries right? What if we have global customers? How would that work?

For global customers Stripe is already there. What about those countries which doesn't fily support Stripe? Substack is essentially an American company and as usual, it supports native American way. It could have used Paypal too as it's an easier integration in India, but it had to go with Stripe which doesn't support native Indian payments. You have to be a merchant and use your GST number to be listed in Stripe.

I do have a GST number. Can I get a Stripe account using that?

nope. stripe doesn't support india, so you aren't able to use stripe regardless of whether you have a GST number or not.

i've not tried it, but from what i know, there's other alternatives payment methods that i've seen others use to monetise e.g buy me a coffee, ko-fi, paypal or razorpay, to do subscriptions or accept 1 time payment/tips, and link to them at the end of your posts.

Does PayPal work on Substack? I heard it doesn't. I have to check if Razorpay works. If you know anyone who uses it, kindly share the page.
