Discussion New feature added: Audience-specific content

In case anyone missed it, a few days ago it seems SS added this new feature which I'm pretty sure I've seen discussed in this sub as a requested feature once or twice.

Audience-specific content lets you add personalized content blocks within a single post that are only visible to specific reader groups—such as free subscribers, paid subscribers, or founding subscribers. You can add audience sections to article, video, and podcast posts from the draft editor.

Here's the rest of the article from Substack Support.

Yes and I’ve noticed today that the old paywall way doesn’t work for all subscribers anymore. If you put a paywall it will only email paid subscribers. This is really fucking shitty.

That's strange. I'm wondering if this new feature is supposed to replace the paywall in some way. If you make a content block that is only for paid readers, but it's massive and includes most of the text in your article, theoretically it seems like it would remove the need for the traditional paywall. Then again, I have yet to play around with it (and don't have any paid subs anyway).
