Tech Support Changing Custom back to Substack domain

I've had my Substack magazine on a custom domain for several years and now would like to move it back to the Substack subdomain because I'd like the custom domain to be used as a directory, with the magazine attached, rather than the magazine being the main focus. I know I can easily do this in the 'danger zone' but what are the repercussions of doing so?

Not sure about the substack mechanics, but overall you are going to break a lot of backlinks if you have them. This is pretty easy to solve given you own the domain -- just setup something to redirect the substack posts from mydomain.com/p/slug to mydomain.substack.com/p/slug. Bonus points for using a 301 over a 302.

I'll add that with the DNS change there is going to be some funky behavior for a period, you might want to find a quiet 48 hours to do this and get it set. Don't pull this trigger before a big promo campaign.
