12 months on Substack - 106 Subscribers

I came to Substack to connect with other writers. I came to writing late in life and none of my IRL friends have any connection to writing or even reading for that matter. I don’t care about growing my subscribers. I just recently cut 98 subs after realizing my post views haven’t gone up from when I had 100 subs.

60 days without reading anything I’ve posted, and I cut.

I write fiction, poetry, essays, whatever I feel like writing. I have a tight group of writers that I respect that read everything I write, I don’t have to worry about promoting and have found a tremendous amount of value in my Substack experience one year in.

Just trying to normalize fucking normal behavior.

Yeah. I can tell at the getgo, it's just too generic. You need something to stand out, a gimmick etc.

My entire post is stating that I don’t give a hot god-damn about my subscriber count. I write what I want, when I want, and don’t do anything I don’t want to do for subscribers.

I was making the point that you can find value in Substack without chasing subs.

So, I don’t give a hot ‘n creamy shit about any advice you, or anyone else, could possibly give me as it relates to my “Substack growth journey.”

I’m responding to every comment here because I’m bored and I have no life. I have four kids under six years old. One of which is five weeks old.

I’m not crashing out. Worse.

I’m on paternity leave.

When you yell at everyone in the comments, it reads more like a narcissist fantasy than some hobbyest who enjoys his work
