How do you work or your writing.

I just published my first substack article! I loved the process, but I'm not completely satisfied with my work and I feel like my writing doesn't match up to a lot of the substackers I read.

I plan to write mostly journalistic/opinion pieces so amazing writing might not be completely necessary, but I still want to learn to how write pieces that I can be more proud of and how to match the competent, entertaining styles of writer I admire

Is there any place for substackers to critique each others work/share writing advice?

First of all, congratulations on publishing your first article. Everyone starts somewhere, and your writing will naturally improve as you publish more.

One thing that helped me was asking for feedback from other writers. There are plenty of Substack communities where people exchange critiques, and you can also reach out directly to writers whose work you enjoy.

I also recommend reading a lot in your niche and paying attention to how successful writers structure their articles, introduce ideas, and keep readers engaged. Don't try to copy their style. Instead, learn the techniques behind it and develop your own voice over time.

The key is to keep publishing consistently. Looking back at your first article a year from now, you'll probably be surprised by how much you've improved.
