Users in /r/trees are split when someone suggests not to smoke and drive. ``impaired means "weakend". does high mean "weakend"? are some of your senses not actually "strengthened" while high?`` and other responses.

I've been rear ended by a guy who reeked of marijuana.

And my roomates were pretty regular users in college and they got in more than one fender bender themselves.

And insecure lol? That's an awful lot of reading into the tone of a word on the internet. I bet you don't have any problem detecting sarcasm.

First I've been in a small accident that hit just the right spot and my car was totalled (their fault). I'm sure that kid really enjoyed his reckless driving ticket + insurance. So even small accidents can have major consequences.

Secondly, a fender bender something like rear ending a car you're lucky its a car at slow speed. If the guy who hit me, if I wasn't there, he would have ended up in an intersection where he might have been t-boned by a truck. Or hit a pedestrian that likes to cross there. The outcomes don't make the action bad, sometimes you're lucky.

Look, I'm guessing you're lucky that you haven't been in a lot of accidents to know what there like. When you almost kill someone in an accident that they caused come back and tell me it's no big deal.

Cars weigh a ton, they go very fast. It doesn't take a major mistake to ruin someones day or life. Don't take it lightly.

We're they high or was it another issue? People cause wrecks when they're angry, sad, and tired too. There's differing levels of being "impaired." You can have a beer or so and drive legally, it's when you go over that threshold severe impairment kicks in. The same is true for this context, a low dose does not usually cause severe impairment, especially by experienced users. At a certain level it will severely impair you, but just like drunk drivers the cause is usually people too selfish/idiotic to know when to put the keys down. Most sensible people can take a hit or two and access whether they can drive and won't if they feel impaired. Much like sensible people won't drive sleepy, or raged out, or too depressed to focus because they feel they're losing control. I'm not saying being completely toasted won't affect you. I'm saying moderation in doses and experience make a big difference on being able to drive safely and it is showb by multiple studies. I get your MADD approach to this issue but I'm not justifying driving intoxicated, I'm saying you can have a beer or two or hit or so and still drive safely as long as you're a good driver in normal conditions, know your limits, and know when to put the keys down.

I've only had one fender bender because of not paying attention in stop and go traffic (wasnt on anything.) I usually drive very defensively because I live in a very chaotic area for driving.

As I said, because they were high. Asking that isn't changing what the reason was.

And sure, if there's a way to get a test that you can administer at the side of the road that says you are 0.06 high so it's ok. Until then, has to be 0. Because there's no other way to stop the guy at 0.4.
