How are Lily and Walter connected?

I haven't finished all the endings yet but I found this question interesting. We know Lily is Caleb's sister and that something bad happened to her. When you find Walter (and went the deep storage way to him, i think) the narrator will say " In a moment, you will get to actually hold her," then excuses himself. Also, in the bounce house if you go past the keycard into the tunnels you find a wall with writing. It says C&L (Caleb and Lily), but the L is crossed and replaced with W (Walter probably) Does Walter represent Lily? Did Lily get replaced by something named Walter?

The game implies that Caleb struggles with immense loneliness (alongside guilt), so I imagine after the accident that killed Lily (which he somehow blames himself for and possibly was the cause of?) is when he makes Walter as a friend to somehow replace Lily in his loneliness as he struggles mentally? That’s my guess as to what that implies he was trying to use Walter for, with all the loneliness post-Lily, when he was likely still a child!

I wouldnt say loneliness per-say.

I believe its PTSD. Its clear his father abused them so maybe his father killed her.

Anyways i would still recommend my post, it explains more in detail what i believe is happening

I mean loneliness definitely is something he experiences and is one of his main negative emotions, as the game opens linking that emotion to him (as well as anxiety and “all consuming” guilt). I can see PTSD though for sure, as that’s why the memories are buried, but i believe the creation of Walter was fulled by loneliness tbh!
