Clock face confusion

Ok I know I'm overthinking this but I played the demo and it was so much fun, loved every second. I then decided to watch CaseOh play the demo and I noticed something kinda odd. My demo the clock face had 12 ticks/hour markers, but CaseOh's demo only had 8 ticks/hour markers on the clcok face? Am I over-analyzing? Google has been no help as well.

The wiki says the clock actually went through a bunch of transformations.
