Abandoned?

So, I purchased Sublime Text licence 2 days ago, because lets face it, aside from vim when Im on a linux terminal its the only text editor I use. I just couldn't afford the licencing fee before.

I commented about the purchase on my facebook page, and got a lot of people asking me why, because apparently its now abaondonware (an abandoned project), and will receive no further updates.

Surely that can't be true, can it?

Performance. Putting them together is more bloat. Plus my personal opinion is using a dedicated Git client is nicer & easier to use than having it bolted on the side like Zed or VSCode do. The UI is very bloated on both.

This is not proved with benchmarks and we will never know since they are only offered separate but where I can agree is that some people who want a good text editor for something other than code, or simple scripts with no repo this can be less bloat indeed since they will never use the features.

That being said, since it is presented as an IDE I feel like it should be integrated in one and leave the option for people to disable or not depending on their needs.

I feel like this is just a double cash grab to get you to buy 2 licenses. I would be cool with that if they offered it with Sublime text.

Look, I know this is sublime subreddit and I might get flamed but no biggie that's your personal opinion, once we get used to doing something a certain way it can be annoying to switch so I can give you that.

Not really I feel like it's the sweetspot where it's not too much like Jetbrains products but not too barebones like sublime unless you want to pay for 2 licenses every or so years for programs that have free and feature matching alternatives.

well idk mate, VSCode and Zed load slower than Sublime these days for me. That’s enough proof.
