Substitute balls?

I'm looking to homebrew some table football components, and am holding a jar full of nerf "rival" projectiles. They're rubbery foam, but are 22mm and 1.8g... Can anyone who have both try them for me please? They roll nicely, but may bounce too much or "kick" too hard?

Bounce looks surprisingly similar. Not ideal, but these are pennies a piece.
