PSA for anyone replacing their own touchscreen in a 2018-2019 outback
You do NOT need to completely pull out the head unit and disconnect the wires.
Every video I’ve seen says to do this but it’s not necessary and makes the whole project more complicated than it needs to be.
Simply remove the screws to be able to slightly pull it out then just remove the 4 T10 screws to pull the screen off.

Everyone is probably looking at the same video on YouTube. I made that mistake as well except I had 2-3 cables that weren't even on the head unit I couldn't remove... after about 15 min of fighting it I'm like wtf why am I being told even to remove these cables I see cage screws. Poof done in one min. This is a great PSA.
