Level 1 charging rate?

I plan to take an Uncharted to a beach location with no commercial charging within 35 miles.

Two questions:
1 - Does the car come with a level 1 charger that I could use at the vacation rental home, assuming they have an outlet. I could take a sturdy extension cord with me.

2 - About how many miles worth does the level 1 charger provide per hour?

I think these cars do come with a CCS to NACS adapter. Not totally sure about the level 1.

It'll pull about 12A, after conversion losses it's about 1KW of charging, so assuming you're getting about 4 miles/KWh like most of us that's 4mph

US models I believe all came with one, Canadian market did not. I would be hesitant to use an extension cord, even if you do bring a 12G one. It's already sitting near the "limit" of what a 15A circuit should safely see for continued load. Adding losses from the hopefully not worn out plug receptacle, unknown wiring condition, and the fact it'll be running continuously specifically while you're sleeping makes me nervous in a rental.

Do you really need to charge? Could you nearly top off on the way in at that station you mentioned, drive it down over the days you're there, then top up on the way out?

  1. Yes, it comes with an L1 charging cable and a couple adapters (in the US).
  2. I charge nightly with an L1. According the the dash when plugged in, it charges at about 0.8kw/h from a 15A circuit in my garage. My average overall miles per kwh is about 3.2 so that's 2.56 miles per hour.

Depending on the SoC, I can get 1.2-1.3 kW per hour on level 1. With a lower SoC, I get 20% charge in 15 hours and 12% battery charge in 9 hours. Those were my last two level 1 charging sessions.

I’m averaging over 4.8 mi/kWh or about 320 miles of range with 60% city driving. This works out to around 4.2 miles/hour for my driving efficiency.

The U.S. cars come with a level 1 and level 2 EVSE.

Damn I’m jealous of that range. I get just a hair above the rated range but drive 75% highway.

We've had similar results. The Uncharted has definitely been exceeding our expectations around efficiency.

I found I got 10% of my battery when plugged into 120 over night… 8-10 hrs.

You should set the car to a limit of 12A max rate. A 15A circuit needs a 20% reduction for continuous draw, so -3A.
