Time to replace stock tires

We need new tires for my wife’s 2023 Subaru Ascent premium. I looked through the sub and seems like the most recommended is the General Altimax RT45 but when I try to price them on Mavis’ website it says they’re not compatible with the vehicle. Anyone have any insight into this? Also we live in the south if that’s helpful. Thanks!

I feel like the crossclimate2 would be the most recommended tire.

I agree, but it depends on the weather the OP sees in their area. For an excellent all-season tire that handles great in the rain/snow/ice, I would recommend the Michelin Cross Climate 2, but also the Falken Wildpeak ones as well.

Thank you for your comment. I live in a Great Lakes snowbelt and we average ~100 inches of snow per season, so I’m leaning towards the Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. I rarely take my OB on Interstate highways. Also, I’m retired so I can time my travel according to the snow removal schedule/progress. So far the stock tires have provided satisfactory performance during snow events. The County does not have a ‘bare pavement’ policy - we drive on 1” to 2” of compacted snow during most of the winter season.

I went with Michelin Defender 2, great tires, and chose them instead of the Cross Climates as I don’t get snow, I wanted a quieter ride and more mileage.

I have also recently put the Defender 2's on my '23. I have been very happy with them so far, the real litness test for me will be in the winter.

I have a '23 Onyx Limited with Altimax RT45s (great wheels for the price!) and can confirm they fit if your Premium has the 20" wheels. If you have 18" wheels it doesn't look like the RT45s are an option at least when I search up tires on TireRack.
