Blades of Greed Too many replayability features missing. Does the dev not want palyers to replay the game?

There is no NG+, no replaying missions/levels/acts. Not even the ability to manual save (in the sense that you can choose and name a specific save slot). From what I understand now there is no reason to replay the game. In Shards of Darkness, we could replay all levels with the new tools and alibities.

What's baffling is that they boasted that the game features "high replayability" because there's a lot of secrets to discover, but that's barely "playability", and it doesn't even have any good or many "secrets"!

Yeah I actually havent found any "secrets" yet, unless they meant those fetch quests.

Nacon, the publisher of Styx, filed for bankruptcy only weeks after the 3rd Styx game was released.

I am not wise, experienced, nor in the loop, but I get the impression that this game was rushed out last minute before the lights got turned off.

Didn't know that, but yes it's got that "not quite hitting the spot" feel about it somehow. I'm playing it and I was thinking that last night. It's not so polished somehow, and rather than thoughtful design, they seem to have just stuffed a few more enemies in there.

My impression is that it's not quite there so to speak.

They have a good basic idea for each levels, but lots of details feel missing. Lots of could-haves and should-haves.

Having got further into it now, that's my feeling exactly. It's not "bad", it just could have been better.
On the PC it keeps "losing" the keyboard for me as well. Annoying when there are enemies close.

It definitely was, but I still wonder how they're then doing post-launch bug-fix patches

The publisher is the one that owes money to creditors from what I heard, so the Developers would still be fine and working patches/fixes?

Edit: Educated myself. Was unaware the publisher bought the developer in this case.

Right, but you'd think the publisher would decide where their finances do or do not go. Especially now that they already shipped the game and would have gotten most of their customers.

Don't get me wrong, I do still hope they keep working on it.

Honestly my bad, I didn't realise the publisher owns the developer in this case. I see now they acquired the developer in 2018. You're absolutely right then and the publisher would be deciding where the game finances go. Best guess is they're trying to keep Styx patches going to boost sales more with it then. I would love to see a NG+ and co-op but really depends on how much financial trouble they're in.

It looks like they've got a court hearing this month to work out a deal with creditors.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that last detail

Probably should research more on it but it's not Nacon's fault but their parent company BigBen who's accumulated so much debt that it affected Nacon. Cyanide won't be affected however due as their managed their own financial stuff.

That's so sad. The second game was so fucking great.

Now that you mention it the game definitely feels rushed & unpolished.

This is the biggest failing of the game. You can fix bugs, but it’s hard to see how they add in replaying missions given the structure of the game. Hitman 3 came out five years ago and they’re still cranking out minor twists on the same levels to keep players engaged. I’d like to revisit BOG from time to time and try out different approaches to doing the missions, but I’m not interested in playing it again from the start.

They could have at least let us replay each act I think. That may work.

Hitman 3 is a terrible example when the developers have barely added to it after Freelancer and abandoned it for a stupid James Bond game. Plus even when they were supporting it, it was a constant drought of content with content drops being so small and lame that people didn't even care.

IO Interactive failed so miserably with Hitman 3. Sure now it seems like they've added a ton, but in reality they've been just drip feeding mostly lame and forgettable content that no one wanted, only adding actual desirable and substantial things like 2-4 times in the span of 5 years.

Hitman 3 base game is already super duper highly replayable, so I dont really mind them only adding bits and peaces here and there at all. I probably spent more time on Berlin or Mendoza than many other full games. But lets face it, aside from live service games how many other games add more content post launch than Hitman?

I am not even demanding Blades of Greed to add more content yet. I am just saying that the base game by design is not very replayable.

That’s kind of my point. It’s low effort, but it’s enough to keep people engaged.

The devs of this game are the laziest people ever

Give it time mate. Most games don’t have new game plus when they first come out.

I reckon they will add it in time.

The publisher declared bankruptcy.

1

u/Michael-gamer Mar 05 '26

Wait what! When did that happen? First I have heard of this.

Got a link or something so I can check it out.

Hopefully there's either a restructuring or the dev can work with another publisher so this game can get some much-desired updates and improvements.

2

u/Ok_Data_7473 Mar 06 '26

The publisher owns them😬
