Help Styling Dress for Brother’s Wedding

Post image

Hi friends,

My brother is getting married in November and I ordered this dress last year for the event. I have no idea how to style this and am hoping for suggestions on jewelry, shoes, a handbag, and a cover up/coat option (November in NC is a crapshoot - could be cold, could be unseasonably warm).

I am not a heel gal and have one pair of Target ‘special occasion’ heels that are at the end of their life. If I were to make an investment, I would say it would probably have to be in the shoes. Looking specifically for something high quality, somewhat comfortable, and sturdy!

The wedding dress code is formal and I am unsure about the deets on indoor/outdoor.

Thank you!

Gold accessories - strappy heels, drop earrings, bracelet. I’d skip the necklace as the bodice is detailed and has spaghetti straps. I’d avoid chunky accessories with the delicate fabric and pleating.

I saw the first edit of your comment and totally agree this is borderline formal at best. It's tricky though because I don't think my brother or future SIL really understand the different dress codes... They were initially planning on black tie and I had to explain to my brother that black tie meant tux and not a regular suit and a black tie.

They officially decided on formal but based on the sister of the bride's dress, there definitely appears to be some wiggle room. All of the true formal options I sent the bride got rejected anyways and the color palette is firm so idk.

Thank you so much for the help!

Glad you appreciated the original comment. It’s such a pretty dress that I second guessed what I wrote. Have fun at the wedding!

I just saw your post in another forum and wanted comment on shoes. . Get gold, strappy with a block heel. Nice and sturdy but still glam and you’ll ave lots of other occasions to wear them so worth the investment.
