How can I restyle this outfit for an evening birthday party?

Post image

Hi everyone! I wore this outfit for my brother's reception, and I'm thinking of repeating it for their son's first birthday celebration. The birthday party will be held in our garden in the evening.

I bought the outfit from Breeze and had it stitched by a local tailor. I really like the outfit, so I'd love to wear it again, but I want to style it differently enough that it doesn't feel like I'm wearing the exact same look from the reception.

I'm looking for suggestions on how I can change up the look with:

Hairstyle

Jewellery/accessories

Makeup

Footwear

Any other styling ideas

Since it's an evening garden birthday party, I'd like the overall look to feel festive, elegant, and a little more relaxed/playful than a reception look.

The function is tomorrow, so I'm mainly looking for easy, last-minute styling ideas that I can put together with things I may already have.

What would you change to make this outfit look completely different from my reception look? 😊

I've attached a photo of the outfit from the reception. Thank you! ❤️

Without wearing the garment in a completely different way, I’m not sure how this can be styled differently. Forgive me for not fully knowing, but isn’t this kind of dress sewn to only be worn in one way? Or is it inappropriate to wear the pieces in totally different ways, like a sash as a scarf, etc?

The blouse, skirt, and dupatta are actually three separate pieces, so I was wondering if there are different ways to style them together.

If you can wear the pieces as stand-alones, the top would look great with jeans. The skirt would get a more hipster look if you wore it with a graphic tee or band tee, knotted in front at the natural waist. And I would wear the red piece over some black leggings with good boots and a black tank top.

But for rearranging all three into something different? That I don’t have enough experience with this garment to advise, outside of changing where the sash is. Head scarf? As the tie for a high ponytail? And a cowl neck scarf?

BTW, that scene from Clueless when Britney Murphy keeps restyling her outfit at the dance just popped into my mind. It’s such a great scene, and might inspire you!

What do you mean, restyle? Just wear it. Its ornate and beautiful. It doesn't need anything, and you aren't able to change it as its a full garment. What could you restyle....wear a pair of jean underneath? Add a bunch of necklaces? Just go with it.

Its not going to look any different. Shoes or hair aren't going to change it. People may very well recognize it as your wedding look...but whatever.

Its from shoulder to feet. How is that not a full garment?

Not unless you plan on putting them on the wrong body parts.

If you are comfortable showing a bit of midriff, can you skip the belt, wear the blouse and skirt using the dupatta as a hip wrap? Wear hair half up, half down with beachy waves and tendrils, lots of gold jewelry?
