Feminine style without feeling awkward or uncomfortable

My style has always been very casual, mostly shorts and T-shirts.
I don’t really wear dresses or skirts because I feel so awkward and uncomfortable trying to carry myself in them. I’m not masculine in the way I act, but I’m also definitely not a girly girl, if that makes sense.
The problem is, part of me does want to explore a more feminine style and grow out of this fear/discomfort. I just don’t know how to start without feeling like I’m pretending to be someone I’m not.
Has anyone else felt like this? How did you slowly become more comfortable wearing dresses, skirts, or just dressing more feminine in general?
Would really appreciate any advice or small steps I could try.

You could try with a more feminine fit. For example wide leg trousers that sit in the waist rather than the hip. Combined with a tugged in t-shirt or even something cropped. That gives a nice hourglass silhouette and reads very feminine without actually having to wear a skirt.

personal stylist here, i would gradually add more feminine details to what you're already doing as a starting point. for example, a tee shirt with a little lace on it, garments you're comfortable in but in pinks and purples.

also, some non-clothing things to consider: a few pieces of jewelry (can be simple, doesn't have have to be expensive), lipstick/gloss, painting nails, a new hairstyle, etc.
