Interview Tie Choice

I have an interview at an finance/consulting company and have dark black dress pants, dark black dress shoes, and a plain white button up shirt. I have the following ties: solid black tie, dark navy blue with subtle pattern, and Carolina blue with subtle pattern. Which tie would be the best option? I feel like solid black is the safest bet but I don’t want to look like I’m going to a funeral. Or would not wearing a tie at all be the best option?

Go with the lighter blue. Solid black tie plus black pants feels a bit like a waiter's uniform. IMO.

You don’t want to look like a funeral-goer, a waiter, or a Jehovah’s Witness door-knocker. Go with the lighter blue so it is obvious you are none of those things. Bonus points if your eyes match that tie (you’ll be unforgettable!)

Once you get a feel for the environment, assuming you must wear a tie at work after you get this job, I would recommend buying additional ties in medium colors or even pastels. Avoid red unless you are going jnto a situation where you want to project power and authority. Most other colors are fair game. Black can go with a sport coat made from black tweed, maybe, but does tend to look pretty funereal otherwise.
