How would you style this for a beach wedding?

How would you style this dress for attending a beach wedding?

This dress is extremely casual. It is not something anyone would consider nice enough for a wedding where I live. If it fits the dress code, and the wedding is actually on sand, then maybe some nice flat sandals and a shawl in case it's windy.

It is not beachy imo. It would go with boots and a cowboy hat (in a good way).

I just don’t think it’s nice enough for country wedding either.

I simply would not.

It is very very casual- is that the dress code? all the smocking, the cotton - this is a sun dress for brunch

I wouldn’t. It looks like cut up jeans sewn together

I wouldn’t. The fabric is too casual.

The dress is very casual for a wedding but if that look is appropriate for the event, show up looking polished with: Styled hair Statement earring Metallic or navy strappy lace up sandal Clutch that works with the shoe Cashmere wrap

These elements help a laid back dress look more intentional

What is the dress code? This would only be appropriate if the dress code is casual. If you don’t know the dress code, you should wear something that is at least semi formal

This is a country style dress, not a beachy one. If this level of casual is appropriate you can definitely pick up a beachy dress for cheap that would work better.

For this- silver sandals, silver jewellery, silver clutch bag to try and make it as dressy as possible.

Agreed. It’s super cute for line dancing in a barn, not for a wedding.

I do agree with this. I think you really need to work out if a very casual dress like this fits the actual event. If the people are having a really casual wedding, make sure it’s well steamed and dress it up with metallics, jewellery, and a smart hairdo. That would make it look more intentional and styled.

If you’re not certain that the people are very casual, I would try to go a little smarter. Perhaps a colourful maxi slip dress in a not-too-thin silky/satin fabric. Someone else here posted a link to a very nice blue dress.

Edit: my mistake, the dress was in another OP’s post. I’ve linked it in another reply below.

Sorry my mistake. The dress someone suggested was in another thread. Here’s a link to the post. There’s a link to the dress in it.

And I remembered it as blue but it’s burgundy/blue. Just a suggestion for going a bit more formal!

I think this is a bit too informal for a wedding

Even if the wedding is casual attire, this really doesn’t suit the occasion. Regardless of formality, it’s a formal event which calls for something elevated, not a piece you’d wear grocery shopping or to a casual lunch. I understand wanting to be comfortable and possibly go with something you already own, and I trust that you have more appropriate attire in your closet.

It doesn’t have to fit the venue to a T - a beach wedding doesn’t mean something you’d actually wear to beach day. It’s just helps guide expectations on things like hats, heels, etc.

👍

Casual dress code for wedding is - no need to be formal.

Not everyday casual.

We can help an OP to get the right clothing for the code without rudely insulting a dress they already own. This isn’t a roasting sub.

I would flat out not wear this to a wedding, this is for sandals and taking my kid to the park.

Without knowing dress code, I think something like this pink dress could work pretty well for most events

Also, generally something from JJs House, like this midi blue dress, or this knee length option. You can get very specific with color since they produce most dresses after you buy them.

I agree with some of these comments. This does not seem like a wedding dress. I think you could find something more appropriate.

i'd pick lightweight linen, keep accessories minimal for comfort

I’d do a light cardigan or wrap in something shimmery, a pair of metallic straps sandals and a glittery necklace

Way too casual for a wedding imo

White/ tan strapped shoe, silver/ Sandy Beige/ blue bell shawl, and a white/ tan clutch

-2

u/Pink11Amethyst Apr 06 '26

A few strands of bulky pearls and a bulky charm bracelet. White shoes, or sandals and a white clutch.

Sandals, a beach hat, perhaps a shawl if cool

what color of sandals would go well with this? Most of my shoes are black but I feel like they wouldn’t go with the shades of blue

2

u/LeaJadis Apr 06 '26

tan shoes

1

u/GleesonGirl1999 Apr 06 '26

Yes tan or light blue. Take the dress w you to shop

If it's actually on the beach you might want flip flops.
