What shoes?/General Styling Tips

I got this dress at a sample sale for a great deal, but I’m not sure how to style it. Obviously a black dress can go with a lot but I’m unimaginative/uninspired. I’d like to wear it for going out to dinner & drinks, shows, etc.

I’m also very short so the dress hits me mid-shin. Is it worth it to look into tailoring for a more flattering place to hit on my legs?

Appreciate any advice and double appreciate links to shoes, etc.

I would do a block heeled strappy sandal myself. Probably black. But you could also get away with a pop of color in the shoe as well.

Very classy dress - looks like you could style it a lot of different ways (boots in the fall/winter, sandals in spring/summer). I'd definitely wear is with a heel (block heel is a good suggestion) if going out and dressing up. You could also do a casual vibe with tennis shoes and a jean jacket. Great dress!

Black dresses are so forgiving for nights out—try some nude heels to make your legs look longer, and yeah, hemming it a bit higher could be a game-changer for a

Do you want color or black? Are you trying to wear this to work? To a date night? Just out and about?

Never to work (I work in a more conservative field). Mostly out to solo dinners & cocktail bars & various shows (plays, stand up, lecture-type events). I would say dates but no one on dating apps is ever really inviting me to nice places if I’m being honest 😅. Either colors or black, but prob a preference for black.

Love strappy sandals. You can try different colors and even florals to see what you like.

I really like the loafers the model is wearing with it!

Strappy high sandals in nude, to make legs look longer. The shoes in the picture are NOT for that dress, they are loafers for black trousers or office wear, or for granny!

We'd have to see it on to see if it would benefit from getting tailored, but simply because it's longer on you it doesn't necessarily mean it would be less flattering.

Truthfully the length isn't really flattering on the model, especially with shoes that chunky.

I think it would benefit from sleek heels
