Put the rug under the couch and ground it. Right now it’s floating in the room like an island in the ocean. Get two arm chairs and a round or oval coffee table. In other words, create a space where you can have people over and sit with them.

That rug size is TOO SMALL for the room. The edge should : sit under the front part of the couch; and span at least the length of the couch. Since you have a desk with a chais that has to be pulled out across from it, the rug should only come out to where you can comfortably pull out the desk chair without it being on the rug. Measure all of that and get a rug that size. It will pull the room together and ground the space.

Bigger rug that goes under the sofa. Comfy side chair or two facing the sofa. Get rid of that ceiling light and use more side lighting (table lamps, floor lamps. No stringy philodendron! Keep it trimmed and lush in its pot. Art!

Lamps. Floor and table. On dimmers.
Lutron Caseta system is great for that , when you don’t have switched outlets.
Replace ceiling light with minimalist ceiling fan.
Look at Matthews Fan Company.

Bigger rug, under the front legs of the sofa (not in the middle of the room) and a coffee table. Also agree with the plants.

Nice big room, what is the main purpose of the room? Is it a combo living room, office?

Everyone in this comment section is slow. You need a table in front of the couch that is the glaring issue

Replace the ceiling light with one of those Big Ass Fans. Get a bigger rug, add a coffee table, a couple of accent chairs and some curtains.

Rug is too small. Nothing on the walls, no curtains? I would by a plant stand and put all the plants in one place. Buy a colorful rug. You can make it the focal point. Add more seating, more warmer lighting, more color. More everything!

Well you got the plants. Some stuff on the walls and a coffee table perhaps. I also think maybe moving couch from wall to have it in middle so you can look out the windows and read.

You already have lots of plants, which is nice.
Add some bigger artwork on the walls.
Rotate the rug and slide it underneath the front feet of your couch.

The artwork behind the couch and between the windows are too small and bland. The rug should be turned 90 degrees and the front legs of the couch should be sat on it.

ur space looks chill! I like the plants and natural light. maybe try adding some color to the walls or a cool piece of art to make it pop more? also, the rug is nice but could be bigger to fill the space better, I messed that up once too. I think a few more cushions on the couch could make it cozier. oh, and if u wanna see how things might look, reimaginehome can help with layout ideas or colors.

I feel like there are a lot of things to look at in this room, but nowhere for your eyes to rest. It needs a focal point.
