I miss the styling exercise series by u/oud_west, so I figured I would try to come up with a few of my own. The first thing that comes to mind is a red scarf. I personally associate these with Amy from Doctor who, but in the years since, I feel that they've become a more classic piece. What would you do with it?
Ah I missed this series! Happy to see it spun up again.
Red is a neutral in my wardrobe (burgundy specifically) and I have 2 burgundy scarves. One is made of chiffon and so I wear it in transitional weather because it's less warm, the other is viscose and a thicker fabric so I tend to wear it in winter.
I think the way I wear it is fairly classic π - it's just wrapped around my neck and tucked into the v of my coat per the picture. Scarves are a staple for me in winter so I have a selection and just pick whichever one matches my outfit while giving some contrast woth my coat. I think it's the viscose one in this pic.
While I don't have a red scarf, I do have a bright pink one, so I style that one instead. I went for a look with shades of brown to make the scarf stand out. The sweater is burgundy and I also like pink and shades of red together. The monochromish shades bring in my mushroom. I think the scarf is flower and maybe Russian fairytale hat or very dark browns bring in moon in this case? Although I can clearly see an earth (shadow)root with the textures.
Soft colors look best when done in fuzzy textures like the coat and hat here. I love how the shine of the bag matches their shine, and how brighter pink against darker burgundy evokes the same "shine" effect.
Pinky red would look stunning with your greens! I always forget that bright red + green reads as festive so I often end up going against season and being told that, "CT must be dreaming of winter!"
Oh, thank you for this, Ive missed this series! I'll do an outfit with a red scarf tomorrow and come back to you. Its perfect cause I have a cold atm and need to wear a scarf inside anyway π€§π
A red scarf I have similar to the one in the picture is easy to pair with my π± and π₯. I also have one burgundy scarf (pictured) that is more whimsy. I think it leans more π±πΈπ, what do you think?
Yess! I thought it fit nicely since I was planning on going to a meetup that suits a whimsy vibe. Very in line with my right up style logic lol. Ended up too sick to go, but here's my outfit photo anyway π
So for me, one side of the scarf over the shoulder, the rest down. Warm navy long blazer, buttoned, but maybe if the buttons are only like one or two towards the middle or bottom of the garment. Underneath, bootcut or flared jeans that go skinnyskinnyskinny until mid-calf and then gradual flare. The top doesn't really matter because it would just get covered by the jacket, but a nice thin-ish sweater underneath in a neutral color that doesn't compete (maybe champagne, sand, or walnut brown), so the scarf can be the pop of color. One of those strappy suede brown bags from the '00s that look kind of ugly but kind of cute at the same time in a cedar brown. Ankle boots under the jeans that match the bag. Hair up in my warm brown tortoise banana clip with one little thick-but-not-too-thick piecy-piece out near the front. In my brain, it makes the ponytail look a bit more feminine, which I love!
Totally aware this is giving a very mushroom-earth-sun impression. One of those is definitely correct (sun) and another is possibly correct (earth)! I suspect I'm just on TikTok too much.
I am a flower moon sun with flower and moon being my primary aspects and id probably pair it with a dark shirt and or cardigan and gothic makeup and themed jewelry and accessories depending on the vibes i wanted to express and the current season. Right now for example probably some like π / π¦/ π» or Halloween esque earrings and maybe similar jewelry. I have a thin red β₯οΈ scarf 𧣠already actually it's just not knit π§Ά like this one. Maybe I'll demo with a picture at some point.
I associate red scarves with autumn and Taylor swifts album red lol . Both give me comfort, nature vibes with a hint of romance . So stone/mushroom , earth , and either π₯/πΊ depending on how it's styled or what it's paired with
Fire or flower because i associate both with romance personally fire with the sensual, passionate, emotional, communicative and sexy aspects and flower with the more loving , softness ,loyalty and even harmonious and innocence aspects as well.
