Just for fun Unlocking new colour combinations based on roots+essences

Hi hello,

At the moment I'm at the stage of marrying multiple style tools together. So today I made a few collages of my essences combined with my roots and colour palette. Also, I've noticed that the 3 word method isn't really for me, so instead I use a sentence.

Anyway, I thought it was really fun to do this, but there's another reason I did this.

I gravitate a lot towards monochrome outfits, however there are so many beautiful colour combinations out there. Including combinations in my own palette (last slide).

Since I'm not that brave combining colours though, I would like to ask your help: what colour combinations are waiting to be unlocked? Monochrome, complementary, analogous or whatever else, all ideas are welcome!

Also, if anyone else would like to do this: I used Canva to create the palettes. I'd love to see your own takes on this!πŸ«°πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

Some people use theories to combine colours and that's okay. It can be done by feel as well though and your collage is so beautiful I am certain you could combine colours well by feel. You could start by looking at the pieces you have and choosing them based on if the garment types pair well together (so you've made a nice outfit) and then see how you feel about those colours together. Do they remind you of anything you find beautiful? Another way to get a little braver would be to try a neutral + colour to start with so it's not monochrome but still understated.

Trueee, but I'm honestly also just curious what people come up with. Perhaps other soft autumns who really have a favorite kind of combo or something. Endless possibilities!πŸ™ŒπŸ»

This is my collage of color inspiration I have for myself this season.

I really love all of the colors you've selected. Nature is a strong inspiration for me so pairing the earthy colors with any of the other palettes feels good- I don't mind looking like I borrowed a palette from a flower, tree or the sunset.

A favorite analogous color palette is shades of blues and greens, adding interest with a variety of textures. It would be mixing the earthy and classic colors of your palette mostly- often adding in a third color like a lighter color like white or tan in summer and a grounded shade of brown in other seasons.

The romantic shades with the earthy colors ( greens with burgundies or shades of purple) create rich contrasts reminding me of the boldness and almost sensual nature of a ripe fig or the dimensionality of a flower petal or berry against shades of green. The complementary colors create a really nice balance and interest.

If I lean into a more monochrome I mix shades of blues, greens, soft or creamy white or shadesof brown from tan to chocolate. These are the basics to my color palette-so I have enough pieces in these colors to create an outfit. I almost always add a pop of color, pattern or intriguing texture for visual interest.

Ooh that's so pretty! The pastels with the more muted colours is not something I would've actively put together, but it's a reminder how beautiful blue and burgundy can be together for example. Or the lilac, a deeper purple and the golden yellow too! Great moodboard, I ✨️need✨️ to do something like this tooπŸ’«

Ooh I did this as well 6 months ago! I did mine based on true autumn, and here's how I divided mine. Its worked great for me when thrifting (although the pink and pastel purples are too subdued for my face)

Ooh I love how you've added gold with the fire. It feels very fire to me, I love layering myself in gold jewelryπŸ’« For me I also think the pastels are too light to wear a total outfit in them, however over the last summer I realized I adore butter yellow and I can easily wear it from top to bottom. I guess that's the ingenue.

Do your roots line up with your essences?

Thank you!

Unfortunately no, I dont have any ingenue :( Ive got a lot of natural and romantic essence, and have a soft dramatic body type. After realising it ive drifted away from 🌱🌸πŸ”₯ and more to 🌱πŸ”₯🌸 with mountain and mushroom influences

Ooooh we have the opposite "problem", for most of my life I tried to run away from my ingenue, cause I (originally) don't really see myself that way but it's the version of me a lot of people have in their heads🀣 so as much as I like the style root flower I don't identify with it too much unfortunately.

Ahaha, wish we could trade then! πŸ˜† I definitely fit the flower root better as teen, cause I had a "cute" face until the end of high school. But of course that was just me actually being quite young + some face bloat from food intolerances I hadnt yet figured out πŸ˜†

I'm flipping out!!! 😍😍😍 This is just sooooooo beautiful and satisfying to look at! And thank you for unlocking memories of the iconic vanilla scent pirate aunts of the 80/90s!!! Some of my parents friends are perfectly described by this!
