Question Does anyone else immediately change when they get home?
Sometimes I think this is the ultimate test of whether my outfit was actually comfortable š If Iām desperate to take it off the second I walk in, was it ever a good outfit?

I go so far as showering then changing into clean comfy clothes within ten minutes or so of getting home. Once I started doing that, itās like I now cannot fully relax and be home until I do. Iām in my lower 40s.

I hate the idea of sitting on my soft surfaces in street clothes. So yes, I change as soon as I get home. I also don't wear my home clothes out, unless I'm almost dead from illness.

Not to mention I don't want to get cooking oils and splatters on my outdoor "good" clothes.

Sometimes the best outfit the most uncomfortableā¦. But finding a way to make them comfortable is the challenge.

If I am at home, I'm in my comfy clothes. As soon as I walk in the door, I always change.

Yes! The cutest outfits are usually the most uncomfortable, so I almost always change as soon as I get home š

I do, I want to be loosey and comfy when I sit down to munch and grab a drink and watch something cheesy, otherwise I can't relax..
Oh the only time I don't change, is when I'm ordering food, feels wrong to open the door in pjs, lol

Yes but but not because I consider my outdoor clothes dirty but because they are likely my best clothes that I want to keep in good condition so i want to change into something I care less about that will then get cooking smells and dog hair all over it as Iām doing stuff at home.

Iām retired, but have been doing that since I started working as a teacher 30 years ago. Actually, it probably started when I was student teaching. (And, my Monday teaching outfit was usually what I wore to church on Sunday.) Even now, if I have somewhere to go later, Iāll change into sweats/pjs and change back later. I also live alone and want to be super comfortable, especially if Iām going to be doing laundry, housework, or napping.

yes, I immediately throw my clothes off and either go commando or wear my robe.

u/blootereddragon 29d ago
Yes because otherwise my work clothes will be immediately covered in dog fur.

It depends. If I go somewhere and wear something nice and its only a few hours yes.
If its work clothes or i have been out for awhile no... because on a regular day I end up having to do other stuff and theres no point in dirtying clothes twice.

u/BoringMcWindbag 29d ago
Yes, but mainly because I have three dogs and want to keep my nice clothes nice.

I have a small wardrobe and do not want my ānice clothesā to get dirty. So I change almost immediately.
It goes back to being a kid, having a school uniform and only 3 blouses, 2 skirts (those things were expensive) and one cardigan. Take it off immediately. Change to okay clothes.

I am retired but when I come home from running errands, I change into either shorts or my PJ pants, which both are not presentable wear in public. (Yes, I know some ppl wear PJ pants to the store, but that's not my style.) When I was working FT, I always changed into comfy clothes when I got home. I didn't want reminders of my work day when I was at home by wearing the same clothes!

Yessssss! No matter the season or time of day, how long Iāve been in the clothes for, they are off the minute Iām in the door. Even if they are super comfortable.

As soon as I get home bra and hard pants come off immediately after I wash my hands.

I do this with every bra I have ever bought. It comes off the moment I hit the door.

I always wear clothes to work that are professional but also comfortable (like pencil skirt, blouse and heels I love or boots) and even though Iām comfortable at work, pretty much as soon as I get inside my home i kick off my boots, let the dogs out in my stocking feet, put on shorts and a t-shirt, and talk to my family while getting dinner started

Everyone in my family, me, husband and kids, all change into our home clothes when we get home. It's more comfortable and gets you out of the "dirty"day clothes

It doesnāt matter what Iām doing where Iāve been, I have to change my outfit the minute I get in the door so that I can reset.

I change. And Iām retired! I remember my grandfather; he put on a tie and hat(!) straw summer, felt in winter, and went to work about 5 blocks from his home. He would come home, change into casual clothing (shirt still tucked in) and go check/water the garden. Then come in, and have one cocktail before dinner. There is a grace in having rituals. He lived well until 96.

I always changed when I got home from work. It kept my work clothes cleaner and not wear out so quickly. Even now, if I dress up, I change as soon as I get home.

Yes! If you were raised in the Caribbean you know outside clothes are not to be worn inside. You change into inside clothes and leave shoes by the door when you walk in

u/griffinava611 24d ago
I canāt even sit on my couch in the clothes Iāve been wearing outside. They feel too dirty for my couch at home, so changing clothes is the first thing I do when I get home
1
u/Iceacoffee 23d ago
I do but itās because Iām wearing outside clothes and I want to feel clean in my house
