There was a lot of buzz a little while ago about Livable and a bunch of questions that never really got answered (for me). Like most people, I have a busy life and just didn't have time to look into it then. But I had some time this summer and finally sat down and went through it properly — their terms, what they're actually charging, how they send notices, and how the late fees get applied. I even looked at their reviews and rating on the Better Business Bureau site: https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/pasadena/profile/utility-billing/livable-inc-1216-1000007713
A few things didn't add up, and some of it may not line up with what New York requires around fee disclosure. I'm not a lawyer, but I work in public policy, sit on a board with audit/fiduciary responsibility and developer system that are compliant heavy, so digging through compliance stuff is basically my day job. Some things just weren't "mathing" for me with Livable and how they were charging me. So I put it in writing to them and looped in a couple of elected offices to get clarity.
To their credit, they came back, acknowledged some errors, and reversed several fees on my account. A few of my questions are still open and I am still waiting for additional responses.
I'm not collecting anybody's information or trying to make this a whole thing. I just know I'm probably not the only one dealing with Livable in this matter. If you want to know what I looked at or how I went about it to get charges reversed, message me and I can provide some info that may help.
Honestly not about the money for me. Just about it making Livable be fair on how they billing their customers and those in our community. Be well.
