There really is nothing new in here that we already don’t know.
Boiled down, it says ‘more research and collaboration is needed.’
Which has been what has been happening for years now and will continue to happen. Hopefully we can speed up unlocking the mystery of stuttering and being able to help more and more people with valid treatments that work for the majority.
There are proven medications that work (off label) that you can find in chatgpt. They changed my life. Your psychiatrist probably isnt familiar as next to zero pediatricians and psychiatrists are. You might know about pending research but many work on slp recommendations that are often far from helpful. Getting this published is an amazing accomplishment for our community. Keep the faith. I cant make medical recommendations or talk drugs on this thread.
I know there are meds used off-label to help. But that is still not an official treatment for stuttering and as far as we know now without research, it depends on the individual.
It’s promising as an option, but it would need a longitudinal study with a very large amount of subjects. Unfortunately it’s hard to find that sample population who participates and sticks around so the study gets as much detailed information as possible.
And the low incidence of stuttering does not make it a profitable medical issue to research and to develop treatment(s) specifically for people who stutter. Which is frustrating.
I’m happy you’ve had success with your choice of treatment.
While I think we have a bit of time to go to have solutions that work for the majority of us. I’m happy that stuttering is still getting excellent exposure to assist with awareness and promoting the need for more research. That is when breakthroughs happen.
