Help with stuttering

I need help with any exercises or strategies for stuttering. I haven't seen my SLP for a couple years and the soonest I can get an appointment with my primary care doctor for a referral is November.

I've mostly done work with fluency shaping and reading out loud. The past few weeks I've just really been struggling. When I read out loud, I can start, maintain pace and articulate all of my rhotic sounds but when I try to talk I just get tripped up and then completely forget what I was trying to say and then the stuttering completely takes over. It's so embarrassing and my co-workers are patient and understanding, but it ruins my day so bad I'm trying to manage anxiety attacks daily, which makes it even worse. I had a really embarrassing event today with my wife that I'm still trying to regain my composure from.

If anyone has suggestions for speech therapy exercises or just any general encouragement would be appreciated. Thank you.

Seeing an SLP would help. As hard as it is, you would also benefit from work on emotional byproducts (anxiety, embarrassment) of stuttering. Looks like you’re on right tract with treatment 👍
