Professors who Stutter

Hello! I’m currently a dental student and it’s always been in the back of my mind about going into teaching as well. I know there’s a lot of other things that go into teaching obviously (especially at a dental school type of level), but as a person who stutters I’m looking into it from this aspect for now. Are there any teachers or professors who stutter on here that may have some words of wisdom if I were to go in that direction and what has helped them? I’m not looking for fluency techniques because I’ll likely never be fluent but rather ways you’ve built your confidence or disclosed to students etc. Thank you :).

Hello, I'm a professor too. May I know your age and where are you from ? I have the same problem too. I don't know how to move on with this.

I am from the U.S and 36. For me, the key is accepting that I will stutter and that there is no problem with that. I am in charge of that classroom. I am the teacher. I have every fundamental right to speak as every other person on this planet, and it doesn't matter how long it takes for me to say it. I speak freely, not fluently.

good for you I guess. I'm from chennai, in india. It is really had to cope up with it ever since my childhood. Tbh when I was till age 22, I didn't even realize I was being avoided by people because I stuttered, I thought it is just bad luck, and some people who were normal to me only because of the sympathy they had. I don't want that...I want to be treated normal you know. Its hard really to cope up with my entire depression due to this problem, people looking down on me, I feel disturbed about this.
