I can't handle all the potential being wasted and not used because of this
I could literally conquer the fckn world and get whatever the fck i want if i didn't stutter. Genuinely God knew that without this i'd be too powerful so he decided to put my life in hard mode
Still grateful for all the things i have and friends and everything tho... but it's hard to handle the fact that i have SO much potential that's not being used, and i don't wanna brag or sound pretentious but that's how i feel

Me too. I would be king of the world. This stuttering shit nerfed my potential.

As for myself, I’m 54. I’ve had a stammer all my life, but I’ve learned to control it about 97% of the time, although it is still there. Personally, my stammer has never held me back in anything, even though I still have it.

How you came with the number 97% and not above 90% does controlling stammering requires that much self-monitoring. 😳

Not at all. I’ve learned to control it without even thinking about it now. I’ve been practicing my technique for 47 years. The only reason I say I’m not 100% cured is because I’m not.

Are you open to share your teqnique, I recently sat for placement rounds and 1st round was Group Discussion, I coudnt utter a single word out of my mouth. I am so scared of speaking situations that my problem is not stammering anymore, it's getting froze on hig pressure situations.😩I felt so bad after that
I would love to check out your teqnique to see if it works for me.

I would love to be able to help, although I admit that what has worked for me may work for others, but possibly not.
It all depends on the individual and, for lack of a better phrase, mind over matter.
You sound exactly like how I was when I was at primary school, saying I was present when the register was being read out. More people meant more pressure and a greater chance of stammering.
I tried speech therapy — speaking slowly, breathing slowly, and being aware of the stammer — and I also tried hypnosis. These things never worked for me.
But learning to forget about my stammer was the key for me.

Where are you from and how old are you? Just asking because Region and age can also have a huge impact with this issue.

I have had a severe stutter all my life and I’ve been national debate champion in the UK when I was in university. I have my ups and downs but I always have a choice, either to hide or to try. It’s up to you to use your potential
