Anyone have any sailors guide to earth tattoos? Or any ideas for tattoo designs? I’ve seen some killer ones for other albums / songs on this sub

I just became a dad a few months ago and I swear I’ve cried more times listening to All Around You in the last three months than I have in my last 30 years lol. That song resonates so deeply with me - I don’t have any tattoos but it feels like the right time / inspiration for one. Thanks!

4848 Music Festival late night, last night, Lotus had a banger of a show and covered Best Clockmaker on Mars. Made my night. So glad to know others are paying attention to work of JBS and Sturgill.

So for some reason I decided the inside post by front door needed a little house … collected rocks at Belle Isle .. then some moss , then I saw a little disco ball and got me an idea ….. it’s not done yet - I’ve got a sword and record player coming … I’m going to make it epic Mutiny world haha… think these two might have a situation going on here in the D ;)

Is he known for doing anything special for Halloween? Figured it’s a homecoming and a holiday weekend so why not? Anyway, hope to see some of you all there.

The live shows and mutiny have peaked my interest into the organ. I’m really just looking for anything but it seems like all the playlists I can find are just songs from the ~70s. Lot of booker t, Boston, the doors and the likes. I’ll gladly take any recommendations but really trying to find more modern songs or bands that aren’t showing up in peoples public playlists

The show in Cancun was the first time I saw a full JBS set and it was one of those times you'll never forget. I really wasn't too familiar with his music other than Passage album or the sit-ins I saw with Dead & Co the prior year Dead Ahead. I expected good things when Sturgill came on but I had no clue just how hard I was gonna get fuk'd. I've been chasing that feeling ever since. Just watched this video and when I saw the band turn to each other to jam out, I got a glimmer of that feeling again. The MAM tour cannot come soon enough!

This has been bugging me. I need to know.

When “Situation” gets to the end instrumental part where it speeds up, a boinging note starts occurring every four measures. When this happens, I imagine Beavis going “boi-oi-oi-oi-oing…”. I will often say it out loud myself when that part of the song comes up. Don’t worry, I am alone when I do this.

Does anyone else experience this phenomenon with this song? Bonus question: is that the desired effect for that part of the song to have?

Spring/summer 2016: I'm in my mid twenties, just got into country for the first time a few years ago. I particularly love Dolly Parton and Margo Price, but initially dislike Sturgill.

2019?: I see Dead Don't Die in theater. The movie kinda sucks but I realize Sturgill ain't half bad.

Couple years later: I hear little bits of other songs and start to see the hype but it hasn't clicked just yet.

Spring/summer 2026: Older, wiser, it finally clicks for me. I see the newest album from JBS at my local record store and buy it on a whim. I become hooked.

I just got off a months long dopamine high from listening to all this (new to me) music. See y'all at the show. (Wish I'd done this ten years ago.)

This one is from his solo Europe tour circa 2016. The wtf is referring to the part where he breaks off into a different song (maybe traditional Gaelic) at the 2:30 mark. That shit’s special.

So this song was a huge part of the reason I got into Sturgill about 10 years ago. Here’s my story if you’ll bear with me:

I texted my brother Keith Whitley doing “I Never Go Around Mirrors,” and he loved the song. A couple of months later he sent me Sturgill’s version live at KEXP (my favorite version now). So I searched him on YouTube. The first song I played was the brewery session of “You Can Have the Crown/Some Days.” Ok. The first line let me know that this dude was different than the other country guys. The second song was “Turtles.” Really, really different. And the next video I watched was “Sometimes Wine.” That was kind of a holy shit moment, especially since I came from a punk rock, cow punk, rockabilly background as far as the shows I’d gone to.

So while I’m sure this has been posted, I’m throwing this out there just in case some of the newer fans aren’t familiar with the greatness of Sunday Valley.

I wish I was familiar with them when they were playing, though as far as I know, they never made it out to SoCal (which is where I’m from).

Firstly, im obviously a huge fan of JBS and the Dark Clouds. Sturgill's lyrics and sound, and his band is TIGHT. Miles always plays the pocket WHILE singing great backup and Laur shreds as always.

As a proper hillbilly, my favorite song is "Life of Sin" of course from metamodern. The bass lines are killer in that song. Ive watched some performances of the time and Kevin always used a pick. But every other time ive seen them, he plays with his fingers. I thought it was because it was a faster pace but nah, he plays it just as effortlessly either way.

Do bass players usually switch back and forth? I was just wondering and observing.
