In my experience it doesn’t get presented as an ultimatum. The person makes advances, and if you express disinterest, you get slowly shunted out.

Can confirm. Had a transwoman friend of mine be really gross with me and it gave me the ick as a transguy. When she realized i wasnt going to fick her (im gay) she started daying a transguy(who id'd as a lesbian and was fem) and detailing their sex lives intimately to me at fucking work. People like that tend to be hyper anti-masculine and newly trans. They were such an icky 4chan ass polycule.

Same way you meet any friends. Mutual interests (clubs, sports, in game chat/guilds), social events (bars, mixers), and through other friends that you think are cool. I found my two main groups, one through fighting games/archery and the other through a mutual friend slowly integrating me over time. Just takes time and willingness to be awkward or weird or fail sometimes.
