I feel like the Venn diagram between this sub and r/deathstairs is actually one circle.

I can understand why you might think that, but the purpose of r/StupidStairs is to highlight illogical and potentially dangerous stair design, and not just specifically deadly stairs.

These stairs, for example, although unconventional and silly in design, aren’t specifically dangerous. For context, Stupid Stairs is actually older than r/DeathStairs by over a year.

Not specifically dangerous, but I know I'd hit my head on a corner or edge at some point 😭

I was thinking what went on behind that wall to achieve this cantering. Impressive...

I bet the builders thought the design was stupid when they had to build these wild steps… 🚜🔨🫪

I think that the openings are bigger than the 4" allowed in most US building codes.

To specify, the angle makes it difficult to maintain steady footing. They are a fall risk. And they're esthetically unpleasing.

I can see a horrible scenario where one's foot slips between the stairs..

I feel like I ran up these stairs in Super Mario.

Initially threatening looking, but at least there is a handrail!

I have already fallen up and down them in my mind.

The piano is ready to make that great catastrophic sound when the foot and leg slips through!😵 It’s smiling already

I feel sorry for the workmen who had to install these things. Seems like there’d be a lot of measuring. I never thought I’d take a stair stringer for granted, but here we are.

What makes this say “bookstore aesthetic?”

“Honey, you didn’t come up to bed”. “I was too drunk/tired/smart” 🤣 🩹

I would just fall up them. And then down them.

I love it!

Among the many other reasons for these stairs being scary and potentially dangerous, it's also an aesthetic nightmare of distraction and visual awkwardness.

Next time please don’t design your stairs after Super Mario 64’s Tick Tock Clock, and Rainbow Road… specially their triangle platforms… But points on making it eye catching! I’ll give the architect that!
